iPhone Early Adopters: How to get your $100 Apple Store credit
Friday, September 14, 2007 - 10:35 AM EST

If you bought your iPhone before August 22, you may be eligible for an instant $100 electronic credit toward the purchase of products at the Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. See the terms and conditions below for more details.

To receive your credit, follow these three easy steps.

Step 1: Identify your iPhone: To confirm eligibility, simply enter your phone number and iPhone serial number (iPhone Settings>General>About) in the fields provided.

Step 2: Enter your access code: You will receive an SMS text message on your iPhone containing the access code to redeem your $100 credit. Enter your phone number and your access code in the fields provided to generate an electronic store credit.

Step 3: Get your $100 Apple Store credit: You will receive a $100 electronic store credit to purchase products at the Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store.

This credit is extended to end-customers who own a qualifying iPhone purchased from Apple or AT&T prior to August 22, 2007. To receive a credit, customers must submit requests between September 13, 2007 and November 30, 2007. Requests will not be accepted after November 30, 2007. The program is for a $100 Apple electronic store credit in the form of a numeric code consisting of a credit number and PIN. This program is limited to one $100 Apple electronic store credit per eligible iPhone. Customers should record the numeric codes that are presented electronically through the web browser. Apple will not replace lost or stolen codes. Only iPhones activated through AT&T are eligible to receive a credit.

Some iPhones will not qualify for a credit. They are:
• iPhones purchased from Apple from August 22, 2007, through September 4, 2007, as they are subject to price protection.
• iPhones that have been returned to Apple or AT&T
• iPhones for which a Gift Card, rebate, or other consideration have already been issued
• iPhones that Apple provided to employees, either for personal use or for departmental use
• iPhones provided by Apple for product reviews
• AppleCare Service iPhones
• iPhones registered to customers whose addresses are outside the United States
• iPhones for which Apple or AT&T already has extended price protection under applicable sales terms
• iPhones purchased by corporations or education institutions where Apple has provided alternative accommodation.

More info here.

MacDailyNews Note: For an 8GB iPhone purchased on June 29th, we successfully received a $100 Apple Store credit in under 1 minute.

Sep 14, 07 - 09:43 am Comment from: MadMac

So if American Express comes through with my $200 credit under the claim they filed for me, looks like the Apple Store credit makes $300 back (x 3 iPhones = $900)!!!

And I don't feel bad in the least about double dipping.

HOORAY!!!

Sep 14, 07 - 09:46 am Comment from: rsbell

Just got mine in less than a minute. Although I was happy without it...

Sep 14, 07 - 10:00 am Comment from: Gman

once again, old news..this was posted earlier elsewhere..come on MDN, you gotta get on the ball!

FYI, I got my $100 too, and will be applying it to another iPhone for the wife!

Sep 14, 07 - 10:06 am Comment from: WooHOO

Wasn't expecting or necessarily feeling that this was owed to me. I will take it though. It took a little over a minute start to finish. Now that is how you do things.

Now what to do......

Nano?
Airport Extreme?
iLife Family Pack? .Mac?
or save for Leopard?
Maybe buy the wife one of those 4GB iphones for $199 ($299 - store credit).

Sep 14, 07 - 10:07 am Comment from: Macromancer

I too was happy without it. It was worth 500$ to me when i bought it. I'll happily take 100$ though.

In typical Apple fashion, this rebate process was slick and well designed.

Sep 14, 07 - 10:12 am Comment from: MB

I am going to buy a new IMac in about an hour. With this credit and my student discount I think I will upgrade to the 24".

Sep 14, 07 - 10:15 am Comment from: John Oeffinger

Took less than 30 seconds...cool...and yes, was happy without it and the iPhone keeps on rockin.

Sep 14, 07 - 10:15 am Comment from: MadMac

@Gman

Dood, if you are so fscking knowledgeable about running a news blog, let's see you do better. I mean c'mon, it's not like the story is days old.

Go take your Ritalin.

Donate that $100 to charity. Buy iSocks to poor people.

Sep 14, 07 - 10:18 am Comment from: OctoberMac

Forgive for appearing stupid, but where exactly do I go on the Apple webpage to enter this info? Where do I "simply enter ..." and where do I "Enter your access code ..."?

"Step 1: Identify your iPhone: To confirm eligibility, simply enter your phone number and iPhone serial number (iPhone Settings>General>About) in the fields provided.

Step 2: Enter your access code: You will receive an SMS text message on your iPhone containing the access code to redeem your $100 credit. Enter your phone number and your access code in the fields provided to generate an electronic store credit."

Sep 14, 07 - 10:26 am Comment from: January 24, 1984

Got it.

Painless.

Sep 14, 07 - 10:26 am Comment from: OctoberMac

I figured it out. Nevermind! Got my rebate in 1 minute or less.

Now, if you can, consider donating the Apple Store Credit you receive to a needy school, pre-school, nursing home or other similar entity that could use new Apple hardware or software.

Sep 14, 07 - 10:30 am Comment from: OctoberMac

@MadMac

According to Apple's FAQ, you may not be eligible (see #3 below). Although, how will Apple know you already got a rebate?

"Not Eligible for Store Credit
(1) iPhones purchased from August 22, 2007 through September 4, 2007 since they qualify for price protection.
(2) iPhones that have been returned to either AT&T;or Apple.
(3) iPhones for which a store credit, rebate, or other consideration has already been issued.
(4) iPhones provided by Apple to its employees for personal or departmental use.
(5) iPhones provided by Apple for publicity or product reviews.
(6) iPhones rented to Customers while their iPhone is being repaired."

anyone want to trade a $100 itunes code for a $100 apple store code? (you can't use your iphone rebate to buy any itunes credit). Let me know, thanks.

Sep 14, 07 - 10:38 am Comment from: Eric

Woot! Logic Studio here I come! (using the $100 from my iPhone)

Sep 14, 07 - 10:40 am Comment from: ChrissyOne

Wow, that took less than two minutes.

I wish Apple built everything.

Sep 14, 07 - 10:42 am Comment from: No Squirt For You

This got edited out at the last minute:

Also, ineligible are iPhones that have been or will be used as detonation triggers for Improvised Explosive Devices in U.S. State Department designated war zones purchased domestically or abroad or received as a gift domestically or abroad. An iPhone used as a trigger for an Intrauterine Device (IUD) is eligible upon demonstration of the device in use. YouTube documentation is acceptable.

Time to port my original phone number from Sprint to AT&T;: 2 days w/ difficulty.

Time to process my Apple Store credit: 20 seconds flat.

AT&T;could learn a thing or three from Apple about customer service.

Can I get something that will make the whole world just a little bit snappier? C'mon Apple. Help me out.

Sep 14, 07 - 10:56 am Comment from: Zune Tang

Again Apple has made a serious mistake entering a market they know nothing about.

Discounting the 4GB, offering rebates which are not really rebates but loss leaders to get you to buy more.

On the other hand, the Zune is doing marvelously without having to enter the cell phone market.

The brown Zune is my favorite as it looks so much like a piece of human excrement that nobody would want to sell or rob me of it.

All my music is safe on the Zune, unlike on iPods which all the music is stolen.

Sep 14, 07 - 11:04 am Comment from: Macaday

Go away Zune Tang - idiot.

Sep 14, 07 - 11:10 am Comment from: ChrissyOne

No way that was the real Zune Tang.

Sep 14, 07 - 11:13 am Comment from: Terry

Didn't work because I used a new number for the first few days and then ported my Verizon number over. Now I have to send an e-mail to Apple and wait.

Sep 14, 07 - 11:27 am Comment from: Happy Jack

@ Terry

I did the same as you, new number first week (purchased iPhone August 21) then ported my number from Sprint to ATT.

I entered my current, updated iPhone number (my original Sprint number) wondering if the number change was gonna foul up everything since the phone was registered with the interim temporary phone number.

No problemo. None. Literally 20 seconds for Apple to process the info once entered.

Glorious!

Sep 14, 07 - 11:34 am Comment from: Mac4lfe

Got so exited about my iPhone credit that I applied for it using my iPhone, took less than a minute. now I can't print the coupon. Oh well, guess I'll just do it the old fashion way and write it down.

Sep 14, 07 - 12:11 pm Comment from: No Squirt For You

"the old fashion way and write it down."

You're going analog? Crap. That sucks, man. Good luck with that.

wink

Sep 14, 07 - 01:03 pm Comment from: Loru

Got mine! wow, that took less than 2 minutes from start to finish...way to be on the ball....

Sep 14, 07 - 01:14 pm Comment from: Patrick O

Nothing better then free $$$, I'd agree with a previous comment and I wasn't expecting anything from Apple. Way to get this rebate in place so quickly IT department! Now for the hard part... what to buy?

Sep 14, 07 - 01:23 pm Comment from: Woody

Uh. Wow. That was simple. Took longer than others here are mentioning -- more like 3 minutes -- but probably the server is getting hammered about now.

Thanks Apple! I was happy with my purchase, and didn't expect, and certainly didn't demand, anything like this. But, I'll gladly take it! Hmmm... what to get at the Apple store... hmmm...

MW: Clearly, Apple knows how to treat customers better than any other electronics manufacturer.

Sep 14, 07 - 01:26 pm Comment from: Woody

Just noticed this: "Only iPhones activated through AT&T;are eligible to receive a credit."

Teh h4xorz that unlocked their iPhones are gonna be pissed. LOL!!!!!!!!!

Sep 14, 07 - 01:53 pm Comment from: David

While the text message things is great, it is flawed in that if you bought two iPhones as wedding gifts for someone. So I bought one for me and my spouse and sister and two as gifts. Thats

How nice is it to go to the bride and groom. Uh, hand over your iPhones, I just tried to get some store credits off the gift I got ya.

Send Apple an email with receipt. Hope they give the store credits to me. It would be nice. But then again, a gift is a gift.

But dang if those credits don't add up!

Sep 17, 07 - 11:34 am Comment from: Ken

Didn't work for me, and I can't figure out why. I meet all the criteria. I've had the same number from the start, which I ported over from Sprint. So I had to write to them...and wait.
