How about copy and paste and a proper turn-by-turn GPS app.I love my iPhone, but those are two pretty standard things that are long overdue

Can Apple fix the Stocks app also... mine is only showing negative numbers today!

Those would be nice. I just hooked my iphone up to my bike and rode 310 miles saturday and google maps rocked. I much rather watch a blue dot of myself following a trail but would be cool to have it tell me to turn here or there.. though it would be visual since I wouldn't be able to hear it on the bike. nevertheless... copy paste would be nice and finally turning off auto correct would rock.

Maybe this update will finally let me install Windows. They can call it Boot Cramp.

Google Earth is available for the iPhone -- it's called Earthscape. A couple of weeks ago, it was being given away for a short time as a free download, which I got. It's pretty nice, but has at least one bug in which the Preference setting for the Photo Layer displayed will not hold and always defaults back to Earthscape Most Recent.

but will it be snappier than 2.1?!

I tried to design a modified Samsung slider that did that. Needless to say, I didn't build it. Something to do with not being able to pack the parachute down.

A cool idea though. I have the plans!

I do like that I can already toggle from English to other languages in auto-correct by toggling keyboards. Dutch and English aren't particularly different, but switching auto-correct language saves quite a bit of frustration.

I tried Earthscape. It took a painfully long time to load a map even over WiFI. And as you pointed out, it won't be free. I don't mind paying as long as it's as least as decent as Google Earth.

Earth to Apple:

Give us Copy/Paste.
We know you can do it.

Also, the ability to change the screen brightness while watching a video (as you can on the lowly iPod) would be verry nice please.

Turn by turn gps please. Oh and copy and paste if "it is technologically feasible". I'm sure it's "really" hard to do.

If it's going to be called 2.2 and not 2.1.1 then it better have some good features LIKE COPY AND PASTE!

What about the phishing vulnerability in the mail app? And on that note, why doesn't MDN report the phishing story? It's all over the other Apple news sites. Way to confirm your zealotry MDN!

Yep, that all sounds like a real definite maybe. Oh, and then there's the little issue of these possible pronations maybe happening only if you're using OS 2.0 or earlier.

Firstly, take a look at the date on the vulnerability explanation. July 2008. This phishing issue has been around for over two months and 2.1 is affected by it. Don't make the stupid assumption that because the vulnerability was found in an earlier version of the software that it is automatically fixed in a later version. Apple have refused to comment on this issue and no security fix has been announced by them.

Secondly, so what if it says "may allow attackers"? He says further on, "an attacker can convince the user that the spoofed URL, showed in the mail application, is from a trusted domain". Let's not get blasé about security because of language pedantics.

This is a serious problem and Apple should fix it quickly!
