They were probably all sitting their using Bonjour to videochat while Professor Biggles fumbled around on his Vista PC trying to launch PowerPoint!

Oct 02, 07 - 08:02 am Comment from: Headmaster

They don't even pay attention to the professor!!!

Oct 02, 07 - 08:02 am Comment from: George Wedding

Maybe, but there is not a single Nikon in sight...

Oct 02, 07 - 08:02 am Comment from: NCMacMan

Sucks to be the guy in the first row with a Dell. He must be so embarrassed that his parents didn't buy him a Mac.

When I was in school, I was the only one in the lecture hall with a Mac (iBook) -- and the only one with a laptop in the lecture.

Boy, a lot has changed in six years.

Damn. That's still unfortunately a far cry from the average college class room, however.

But clearly it's a positive step, this trend continues it won't be an isolated case.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:04 am Comment from: a

I plan on being part of the statistic soon when I switch from PC to MAC. Just waiting for the release of Leopard.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:04 am Comment from: Crunch n' Munch Baked Cheddar Snack Cakes

...but it's a journalism class STUPID! So it's quite significant. =)

"Students are encouraged to acquire wireless laptop technology from Apple, which the School has designated as its preferred provider, but students also will have a choice of a Windows-based alternative. Last year, 99.5 percent of incoming students chose the Apple option."

Oct 02, 07 - 08:07 am Comment from: Dr. Mayham

Hahaha, my Photoshop work is nice huh?

Oct 02, 07 - 08:09 am Comment from: moiety5

Wow!

MW: plan as in the master plan is coming to fruition.

Similar - yet - larger wave of converters at the Sheridan Campus in Ontario Canada. Most (9-10) coarses now done on MAC.

What WILL Zune Tang say?

Oct 02, 07 - 08:20 am Comment from: M.X.N.T.4.1

I see at least 3 red Macs.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:21 am Comment from: Mr. Reeee

Holy Shit! That gives me goosebumps!

a & Wallus...
It's Mac as in Macintosh. Not MAC cosmetics.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:23 am Comment from: Zune Tang

The picture is obviously a fake. You see MAC lemmings, there's a little program available for lucky Windows users called Photoshop which can do some pretty fantastic things with images. Clearly someone performed a little magic on their PC as a joke on you MAC dorks. I almost feel bad for you.

Maybe Adobe will port Photoshop over to the MAC if Apple's market share cracks 4%, which should happen… never. Losers.

Your potential. Our passion.™

Oct 02, 07 - 08:23 am Comment from: b

thanks, Homie. It's a great picture, but what you found is what I expected.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:24 am Comment from: Steve Ballmer's assistant

Please refrain from posting photo's like this. My boss just threw ANOTHER chair through the plate glass window of his office and it accidentally killed one of the swans in the synthetic reflecting lake.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:25 am Comment from: MikeR

Perhaps in 4 or 5 years there will be some writers out there who actually research the topic they write about.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:26 am Comment from: Sally G.

It´s a basic "How to use your Mac" class.
Requirement to take the class - you have to own a Mac.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:27 am Comment from: JadisOne

Buy AAPL now!

(MW: future. Just ironic. These kids are our future.)

Just think, a good percentage of these kids will get into some major decision making role for their own company or another's and start the adoption of Macs company-wide because of their success and joy using Macs throughout college.

Heck, that's why my company uses Macs, the owner had a great experience using them in college.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:27 am Comment from: Rick Salomon

They're all viewing tasty pROn.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:28 am Comment from: Chris ][

Oh, this is just beautiful:

"Q. What brand or model should I buy?
A. The faculty has designated Apple Computer as its preferred provider for two primary reasons: (1) Apple's OS X operating system is based on Unix, which makes these computers far less susceptible to viruses than other computers. Viruses are a serious problem on university campuses. (2) Apple iBook and PowerBook computers come bundled with iLife, a suite of applications ideal for learning the basics of photo editing, and audio and video editing. We'll use those programs in several classes. Incoming students will receive information on recommended models and pricing in February of each year.

Q. What if I prefer a Windows-based machine?
A. That's an option, but it's one we do not recommend unless you plan to make a career of computer-assisted reporting. By the time you purchase photo, audio and video software for a PC, you probably will have spent more than you would if buying a comparable Apple Computer. Buy a PC if you prefer to do so, but make sure it is wireless and has Microsoft Office. Almost 100 percent of last year's freshmen chose Apple computers. "

awesome...brings sunshine to my heart...bringing back my college memories when the Macintosh Classic reigned supreme--through innovative merit, not via an abusive, subversive monopoly.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:33 am Comment from: Typical

Actually, as a alumni of a Journalism School (Drake University, woot!), Macs are the norm there. If this were an acturial science class.... That'd be something, but as a J-school, it's nice, but certainly not expected.

However, that's a lotta new hardware there, so go AAPL, go!

Oct 02, 07 - 08:33 am Comment from: Basty

I think it's mostly because there is a lot of journalism software that's only available for the mac. The professional journalists in the audience can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:38 am Comment from: Girly Pants

In the "show me" state, eh?
Well, I guess someone showed them.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:38 am Comment from: Tabasco

Zune Tang is really showing his ignorance if he thinks Photo$hop doesn't run on Mac. What a Dorkomundo!

Oct 02, 07 - 08:41 am Comment from: Listen you fscking idiots...

For the last time...

(not really, there will always be idiots out there)

ZUNE TANG IS HUMOROUS. HE WRITES EXAGGERATED STATEMENTS. HE WRITES LUDICROUS STATMENTS TO BE FUNNY. IF YOU DON'T GET IT, YOU ARE ONLY PROVING YOURSELF TO BE A MORON.

Keep in mind that I only use "he" in the formal sense here, for all I know, it could be C1 or something. I dunno.

Oct 02, 07 - 08:47 am Comment from: hotinplaya

Is it the lighting, or are the majority Mac Book Pro, or just white Mac Book

Oct 02, 07 - 08:57 am Comment from: shiftOpt k

WOW!!!
I LIKE IT!

i don't recall seeing a single laptop in my lecture classes when i was in school… and that wasn't that long ago. of course i wasn't in journalism, but still. we were all to broke for laptops, lol… we kept it old skool with pen and paper, lol. even after i got into my graphic design classes i still didn't see many laptops… but you better believe the ones i saw were apple!

Oct 02, 07 - 09:08 am Comment from: Wade

Are there any other campuses which designate Apple as their _preferred_ platform? This is an encouraging trend, if so, as well as being not shortsighted. The other problem, of course, is their requirement for Office- these days, there are alternatives, which should also be encouraged.

MDW word- 'corner' - as in turning the....

Oct 02, 07 - 09:13 am Comment from: SammyP

Resistance is Futile! wink~

Oct 02, 07 - 09:27 am Comment from: @Listen you fscking idiots...

It's pointless to point that out to most people on these boards. I've tried several times in the past to elucidate the same point.... but got plenty of flame from the ignorant here.

Just let them keep flaunting their inability to recognize the humor and wit in the real ZT's posts (there are several ZT wannabe's, as is painfully obvious from their lack of wit and humor) while we chuckle at their flaunting.

Oct 02, 07 - 09:35 am Comment from: BustingTheSkullsOfIdiots

LOOK. We all know that Zune Tang ATTEMPTS humor. The point is that he HASN'T BEEN FUNNY FOR THE PAST SIX FREAKING MONTHS.

Zune Tang has JUMPED THE SHARK.

Oct 02, 07 - 09:36 am Comment from: Someone Else

Nobody seems to notice how many of these have the cases colored (presumably by colorwarepc?).

Oct 02, 07 - 09:38 am Comment from: The Fonz

I take offense at that Busting...

Oct 02, 07 - 09:48 am Comment from: Randian

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Busting . . . .

Even the most successful comedians change their acts after a certain point, for crying out loud. PuneTang has SO outlived his entertainment value it's pathetic. But then again, an old dog is the last to smell his own farts.
