Lehman chip analyst: Micron should benefit from Apple’s next-gen iPhone
Tuesday, April 29, 2008 - 11:00 AM EST

"Lehman chip analyst Tim Luke writes this morning that 'proprietary checks' show Apple may build 3 million 3G iPhones by June, with at least 10 million built by year end," Eric Savitz blogs for Baron's.

"Luke says memory chip maker demand Micron Technology should benefit in the coming weeks from firming NAND spot pricing as a result of Apple procures parts for the 3G buildup," Savitz reports. "And he also notes that Micron shares tend to track NAND spot market pricing; ergo, he thinks the stock could rally."

Is someone trying to sell Lehman shares?

That's a little on the speculative side, wouldn't you say?

Apr 29, 08 - 10:16 am Comment from: Crabapple

"Chip analyst"?

I wonder what he thinks of Pringles.

Apr 29, 08 - 10:41 am Comment from: Cubert

OK. I admit. That was pretty lame.

And, how come I never see posts from Brawndo Drinker???

Apr 29, 08 - 10:50 am Comment from: Brawndo Drinker

I like to lurk. I'm busy, too. I'm Secretary of State, brought to you by Carl's Jr.

"As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point. Natural selection, the process by which the strongest, the smartest, the fastest, reproduced in greater numbers than the rest, a process which had once favored the noblest traits of man, now began to favor different traits. Most science fiction of the day predicted a future that was more civilized and more intelligent. But as time went on, things seemed to be heading in the opposite direction. A dumbing down. How did this happen? Evolution does not necessarily reward intelligence. With no natural predators to thin the herd, it began to simply reward those who reproduced the most, and left the intelligent to become an endangered species."

Is that the real MacDailyNews Webmaster above?

If so, unusual post for you.

Cubert - that wasn't lame: a nice relief from seriousness is all, and most welcome.

Mid you, I'm post-Pringles myself, more into Greek olives soaked in lemon and pimentoes.

Don't dare eat 'em near the Macs of course wink

@DJ,
Not a big chip person myself, but if I do it's usually Pringles or Sun Chips.

And, I am OBSESSIVE about not allowing anyone to drink any beverage near either of my Macs, including myself!

Meh ... I threw $160 at it. I guess I'm a sucker. Or maybe in 10 years I'll be releasing the hounds!

Apr 29, 08 - 01:21 pm Comment from: Crabs

what's with all the really short stories today?

Apr 29, 08 - 03:26 pm Comment from: DJ

Cubert,

Yep, I know what you mean about beverages. I chucked half a bottle of white wine down the keyboard of my last laptop. It sorta gulped and slowly died, enough for me to get an MBP anyway.

Then it revived! And my younger daughter is the lucky user of a nice bit of legacy kit wink

@DJ,
I have heard a lot of tales of Apple hardware taking a beating and still working.

If you spill any liquid on your Mac, immediately turn it off and let it sit a full week before turning it back on. If it is a Windoze PC, dunk it in a full bathtub with it plugged in and on - that should do the trick.
