Calling the iPhone "vaporware" won't be accurate unless it is delayed at LEAST once (it hasn't been). The iPhone was demonstrated as a working product - not a video... not a list of specs... not a prototype. A finished product (or nearly) simply awaiting FCC approval. Many journalists and reviewers have had an opportunity to get some hands on experience with the iPhone and can make credible comparisons with other products like the Prada. Hardly the "unintelligent personal opinions, delirious mobile phone biases, and traditional narrow-minded Apple mania" that you decry.

One of my friend really wants the PRADA phone, and has ordered one, because he can't wait for iPhone.

I told him he'll be getting rid of it as soon as iPhone is available!

Listened to a 'Roughly Drafted' podcast comparing these two phones and it was saying that the Prada is based on the Flash engine for software. Basically it'll do ok with showing videos, playing music etc, but doesn't have the smarts to really do much in the way of web browing, emailing or other real 'applications'. The iPhone has osX. All the Prada has is a scaled down version of Flash. Yep. It's the software stupid.

My guess: Nokia will have something comparable first in phone terms. Whether it will be _as good_ is another matter. And, again, it's not going to sync with iTunes or interface with the iTunes Store. You don't write software like iTunes overnight; it has been developing for years and is now in version 7.

MDN, to be fair the photos of the phones above should be to scale. If you look at the hands you can tell that the LG is significantly smaller than the iPhone. It's not tiny, but it is definitely smaller.

I will wait until average consumers give their assessments of the iPhone. A minority of technophiles, Apple fanbois, and reporters (many of who receive their income from Apple advertising) are not likely to provide the most objective reviews. The true test of the performance of iPhone will be AFTER its release, not before.

As a matter of fact, it has already passed FCC approval, a few days ago.

I agree with Who Cares? for maybe the first time EVER-as great as I think the iPhone will be, the true test is what the first 100,000 average users think after using certified production models, without any particular training or orientation in its use, and then dealing with tech support.

You're right. But it's funny how the 'bad press' about iPhone has gone from "HORRIBLY HIGH PRICE!" to "NO FEATURE 'X'!!!" to "VAPORWARE!" and now sits somewhere near "ah, lets just wait and see..."

You're right too. The initial press was it'd be a total train wreck and who'd pay $499 for a phone anyway? Ofcourse the idiots totally overlooked that you will pay $399 for the iPod part and only $100 for the phone part.

It'll be a blast reading all of the "well, it's not too bad, but [ fill in the blank] offers equal functionality at a lessor price" comments from the clueless, dumb ass analysts in the next couple of months.

OS X reinvented the OS, the iPhone will reinvent the cell phone.

The Prada phone is going to be a fashion phone, and in a market where women pay $500 for a new handbag every season, I'm sure it will sell well. Good for LG! But they are not going to have a prayer of playing in the same league as the iPhone, unless LG has a mature, UNIX-based OS hidden down its pants somewhere, along with a fully realized product environment and online services to give the Prada more value.

The bottom line - Pretty, flashy, 800 dollar phone to put in your 500 dollar bag that matches your 600 dollar shoes. And like the rest of the Prada product matrix, it will be found at discount retailers for a fraction of the price within 6 months, and forgotten within 12.

And the Prada is $750-$800 – for basically my RAZR with a big screen. Wait, I thought the iPhone was too expensive? No one would buy it at $500-$600? AT&T;will have to subsidize the heck out of it just to move it off the shelves?

Amazing how Apple continues to pack its products with features and offers them for a reasonable price, while Apple still makes a healthy profit so it can build more great products.

I am suggesting that digi nerds get the iphone & people with an eye for style & a good paying job go for the Prada.

Also. I think that the Prada phone may be rudimentry, but it's more for people who are just hunting for stylish & basic, while iphoners want a little bit more use out of there phones... for instance a crapload of apps you probably wont frequently use.

It is annoying me to no end.
First off you got the phone because everyone has one - you are copy catting
Secondly the LG Prada came out before the iPhone did.
Thirdly Palm has been making touchscreen phones forEVER.

Its not about copying - its about innovation thats what all technology is based upon, if every gadget had to reinvent the wheel in order to make a product we wouldnt have technology today.
