Linkin Park rocks Apple Soho store with secret show
Thursday, February 21, 2008 - 09:24 AM EST

"Linkin Park rocked a crowd of contest winners and industry personnel just after midnight Thursday (Feb. 21) at the Apple Store in New York's Soho neighborhood, in what served as an intimate warm-up for a show tonight at the city's Madison Square Garden," Jonathan Cohen reports for Billboard.

"The set was recorded and filmed for what is expected to be a March release on Apple's iTunes Music Store, sources say," Cohen reports.

"Apple has hosted concerts at its New York store on several occasions, including performances by Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, Kaki King, the New Pornographers and Simian Mobile Disco. But Linkin Park is by far the most recognizable act to appear here to date," Cohen reports. "Sources say additional A-list acts will play the store in the days to come."

So what was the point of this?

Feb 21, 08 - 09:30 am Comment from: silverhawk

The point is Apple IS releasing music through iTunes.

Feb 21, 08 - 09:31 am Comment from: 7over

Feb 21, 08 - 09:35 am Comment from: macdaddy

So much for the big surprise release that was to accompany the Linkin Park performance.

Feb 21, 08 - 10:01 am Comment from: macromancer

I thought the big surprise might be that Linkin Park might stop sucking.

Feb 21, 08 - 10:09 am Comment from: ChrissyOne

Trivia: Linkin Park is so-named so they would be right next to Limp Bizkit on the music store shelf.

I'm going to call my band Led Xylophone.

Feb 21, 08 - 10:24 am Comment from: Zune Tang®

So it's settled. The name of my band will be Molly Handjob and we'll be recording on the Zune Tunes label. It will be an honor to share bin space next to one of my favorite southern fried rockers as well as partnering with the fine folks at Microsoft to distribute our fantastic music. All releases will be in glorious WMA format for a sound so rich and pure you I-Pod lemmings won't know what hit you. Suck it MAC dorks.

Your potential. Our passion.™

Feb 21, 08 - 10:28 am Comment from: ChrissyOne

Oh boy... Google "Molly Handjob". I won't post the links that I found. But the third one is quite instructive.

Feb 21, 08 - 10:31 am Comment from: ChrissyOne

And of course you've met Molly's boyfriend.

Jethro Pull.

@ChrissyOne

Feb 21, 08 - 10:42 am Comment from: Zune Tang®

Is Jethro Pull anything like the Meat Puppets or is that a different thing altogether?

Your potential. Our passion.™

Feb 21, 08 - 10:55 am Comment from: ChrissyOne

@ Aldebaran

Well you'd better call Molly to finish you off!

Feb 21, 08 - 10:57 am Comment from: ChrissyOne

@ Ampar

Uh, dude, check your infield fly.

Feb 21, 08 - 11:51 am Comment from: Buster

@C1...due to imbibing large quantities of small chain aliphatic alcohol, Molly couldn't remember the guy from the night before. All she could say was Who? Who?

Feb 21, 08 - 11:55 am Comment from: Buster

I suspect Roger Daltrey.

Feb 21, 08 - 11:56 am Comment from: Buster

@C1...but I want a gold llama suit.

@Ampar...contrary to popular belief, having four balls makes it hard to walk.

Feb 21, 08 - 10:53 pm Comment from: Jonny Canuck

65 bucks to see CT at the RiverRock.

But, as I understand it, I could enjoy a CT in front of my 20incher — for free.
