Microsoft not buying stake in Creative Technology
Monday, August 01, 2005 - 11:05 PM EST

"Microsoft Corp. isn't looking to buy a stake in Singapore consumer electronics company Creative Technology Ltd., a spokesperson from the U.S. software company told Dow Jones Newswires on Tuesday. Microsoft will continue to work with Creative in developing new products as 'we are the platform provider and Creative provides music devices,' said Charlene Chian, the company's public relations manager for Asia Pacific. 'We work with industry players and Creative is one of them,' she said," Dow Jones reports. Full article here.

On July 14th, Bloomberg reported, "The share price of Creative Technology, whose MP3 music players compete with Apple Computer’s iPod, rose for a third day yesterday after Microsoft chairman Bill Gates reportedly said that his group would support Creative and other partners."

MacDailyNews Take: Creative's stock price should be interesting to watch later today. Of course, there's no telling with the market.

Wow, that's odd... My handle here appears as a link, but it's not a page of mine... What's up with that?

Probably the last time we'll see the words "creative" and "microsoft" in the same sentence.

It seems that even Microsoft is smart enough to recognize that people can only take so much mediocrity.

In other news, Creative CEO Sim Wong Hoo has declared war on Microsoft. "We are going after them" he declared. "We want to be the king of Viruses, Spyware, Malware, Adware, and really really poorly designed operating systems. Obviously there is a huge demand for this since they hold about 90% of the market" he said. "We will own the living room and do it in a way that makes it a miserable experience for everyone to use, just like Microsoft does for daily computer users" he added.

Creative CEO Sim Wong Hoo says he wants to own the living room? Right now it would appear that the only room they own is the bathroom - specifically the toilet.

Microsoft took a look at Creative, but the Stench of Death was so thick, that they beat a hasty retreat.
