Next-gen Apple iLife goes gold

“Sources informed MacScoop that the development of the next iteration of iLife has reached the Golden Master phase. The consumer software suite could ship before the release of Leopard, which is now slated for October,” Alexandros Roussos reports for MacScoop.

“The development of the new iLife suite was actually finished a few weeks ago and there’s nothing preventing Apple from releasing it during the summer or early September, sources told MacScoop,” Roussos reports.

  1. I hope they are updating iWeb!

    I want:

    – Create my own templates without hacking the Apple ones!
    – Customisable and repositional nav bars and sub menus
    – Flash movie and animated .gif import

  2. “It is not worthy of a special event all by itself.”

It is five awesome programs for $79 and IS worthy of a special event all by itself.
If you haven’t tried it…now is the time.
Our company has used iLife to do its promotional DVD to get university clients. We bring us to them on DVD instead of them having to find us and see what we are about. Total cost: a Sony firewire video camera, iLife, several hundred printable blank DVD’s, Disclabel software, and some ink for the Epson Stylus Photo R220.
It has paid for itself twenty times over and continues to do so. iLife is easy to figure out as you go along and is worth every penny. Try it! Compare the price for barely comparable programs on the PC, not to mention the hassles and learning curve. The media integration of each program is worth its weight in gold.

  3. Don’t get too excited. Chances are there a more than a few apps in there that use some of the Leopard only features dealing with core annimation, etc…

Best case scenario: If the apps work in Tiger you probably won’t get the full experience that you will get after Leopard is installed.

Worst case scenario: The apps won’t work without Leopard installed and therefore Apple will not release it before Leopard.

“Who cares unless it runs on the iPhone?”

Really. When is the site changing its name to iPhoneDailyNews?

Don’t get me wrong, I stood in line, I almost couldn’t wait for my iPhone but its time to get back to the Mac. And Yes Apple created both of them but its not AppleDailyNews (hmm maybe it should be)
Just checked seems like an open domain.
So MDN, Apple had a name change maybe it is time you guys considered it ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” /> cuz I do look to you guys first to see what is happening in the world of Steve.

I will change my bookmark to reflect this.

    Enjoy

How stupid are you. iLife has no relation what soever to NeoOffice. I’m guessing your thinking about iWork. Pull your head out and think before you type.

  6. I hope they release soon, and I am hoping for an updated iWeb.
Last spring I was trying to get someone to do a web site for me, who spoke english(I live in Mexico) could not find anyone, started to play around with iWeb and with great help on the the Apple discussion forum, did my own. I had to do some post publishing work (with help) but over all, cant believe I did myself, and it came with my iMac!! (my budget was $2,000us for my web site) saved more than my iMac cost me!!
