Nielsen: Apple was top hardware manufacturer site in May 2009
Tuesday, June 30, 2009 - 09:27 AM EST

According to Nielsen, Apple was the top hardware manufacturer site in May 2009.

The Hardware Manufacturers subcategory grew 22 percent year-over-year, from 57.3 million unique visitors in May 2008 to 70.1 million in May 2009.

• Apple was the No. 1 Hardware Manufacturer destination in May 2009, with 55.7 million unique visitors and an average time per person of 1 hour and 14 minutes, perhaps due in part to the anticipation of Apple’s release of its newest version of the iPhone.

If my quick math is correct that's more than all the others combined.

Well this explains something as you can see by the chart who is #2.

As you know, HP, the printer company, bought Compaq and the then CEO Carly Fontina was teamed with Apple to make PC's with iPod docks in them and other things.

The HP board canned Carly and she went to work for Apple. Then the new CEO targeted upon Apple and came up with the glossy screens.

HP was the first to come out with glossy screen computers aiming for the consumer market which is Apple's turf.

So Apple comes out with glossy screens to compete against HP.

What's really strange, if it wasn't for Carly, HP wouldn't have bought Compaq in the first place, they were dead set against doing anything but sell printers. Carly forced innovation in the old corporation but now that has come to haunt Apple.

So what did Apple have going on with her that backfired?

Anyone know?

MagicJack beats Intel and IBM.

Now that's something.

MagicJack works good too.

Problem of course is you have to plan on being near your computer and internet connection for a long conversation, it's a planned conversation, not spur of the moment like long conversations usually are.

Now if they come up with a wireless phone that works over any available WiFi...

Sort of like a MagicJack, a computer and a phone all together...

Skype and a iPhone?

JudgeJudy

It was Carly Fiorina not Fontina. smile

Plus she is a Republican and never went to work for Apple. And she was John McCain's Economic Advisor...she also defends Sarah Palin on some issues.

No hard feelings...just setting some facts straight. smile

Never mind I see that you said "teamed". My bad.

"also defends Sarah Palin on some issues"

Thanks for the heads up. Good of Carly.

Sometimes I wish the media would treat Obama the way they treat Sarah Palin. For example someone with the highest rating on TV should make more jokes about raping Obama's children.

At least things would be more equal then.
