Besides just questioning Farooq’s report, we also did the next logical thing and questioned Steve Wozniak’s Executive Assistant, Julie Roebuck.
Via email, Ms. Roebuck told MacDailyNews, “Steve is simply trying out a Nexus One, but does still use the iPhone (he carries multiple cell phones).”
“Steve is extremely passionate about gadgets and new technology,” Roebuck said. “He loves to try out new products so he can compare them to others on the market and be able to speak first hand about each one when asked.”

There is no integrity in web journalism (including MDN) because the standards of the past (self-censorship for accuracy) have long been dropped in favor of generating hits.
Gee, that sounds eerily like the standard applied by the National Inquirer (and all other grocery store tabloids).

Assuming you actually want to report things accurately, then yes, contacting the people involved with the core of the story is indeed the logical next step.
However, if you’d rather rush to press with sensationalized half-truths… well, Sajid Farooq already followed the “logical” path to that end result.

Checking for 3 accurate sources takes time. These days, it’s not whether your news is accurate, but whether you got it out there first that counts. Newsprint is begging for mercy, and the electronic age means a story can be published a few milliseconds after it’s written. Proofread? Edit? What’s that?
That is the sad truth of the state of affairs.
Oh, and let’s not even get into the networks that don’t bother even waiting for news to happen, but fabricate their own like, oh, <cough> Fox <cough>.
The age of true journalism may not be dead, but it’s definitely on its last legs. <sighs>
