Nullriver’s NetShare reappears for sale in Apple’s App Store

After a brief unexplained hiatus, Nullriver’s NetShare is once again available in Apple’s App Store.

NetShare users can share their iPhone’s EDGE or 3G Internet connection with their computer. NetShare provided a SOCKS5 proxy to which your computer can connect.

Mac configuration instructions are included. Windows configuration instructions are forthcoming via Nullriver’s website and are planned to be included in the next update.

Get Nullriver’s NetShare for Apple iPhone via Apple’s U.S. App Store for US$9.99 here.
(All other countries, simply search for “NetShare” in iTunes Store.)

For illustrated instructions, see AppleInsider’s “Ten step guide to sharing your iPhone’s connection with NetShare” here.

  1. I got it too. Works great!

I wonder if there is going to be any way for the carriers to detect this ‘unauthorized use’. I don’t plan on using a lot, just when I need to send a document or something like that from my MBP. Awesome.

  2. Just downloaded it… cool ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

All I want now is to be able to sync my iPhone with iTunes in less than 5 minutes, and I’ll be happy. At the moment, sync takes on average 15-20 mins… 🙁

  3. Sounds like they (Apple) needed to make sure they could leave it up there. Once a few lawyers read up… they cleared it. What consumers do with it after the fact is not Apples problem. It’s between a end user and At&T;. Apple shouldn’t be a traffic cop. Now maybe we’ll get Skype now.

  4. I used the “Shark Modem” in CrapBerry once, and it complete sucks….
It was almost completely useless. almost no site can be viewed in the computer because of the time outs and messenger experienced a lot of disconnections.

  5. I just downloaded it and set it up and it’s pretty cool.

The only issue I have is that if the phone “goes to sleep” or you press the Lock button on the top, the network connection drops out. So in order to use this you have to find some way to prevent your phone from going to sleep or locking itself after 15 minutes.

  6. Yippee! Now I can surf Safari on my Mac as slow as on my iPhone! Saweet!

What would be cool, though, is to use the headphone jack on the iPhone in the same manner as an AirPort express.

  7. That’s exactly why I bought it! Get it while it lasts, because AT&T;isn’t going to like this one bit. Why should I buy their $60/month 3G modem for my macbook (which I was actually considering just yesterday) when I can just use my iPhone’s 3G connection?

  8. I am composing this comment in Safari on my MBP while tethered to my iPhone classic which is on AT&T;’s Edge network.

While MDN’s pages are loading at their usual sluggish pace, they ARE LOADING. Very cool!

While NetShare apparently doesn’t work for application-based email yet (but you can use a webmail interface), I have checked and it is possible to access the iTMS with it. Wow.

This is an amazing demonstration of what the iPhone is going to become. Now all NetShare needs to do is make the connection process a little less geeky, and allow email apps to use it, too.
