Piper Jaffray adds Apple to short-term Alpha List
Tuesday, September 02, 2008 - 05:34 PM EST

"Investment bank Piper Jaffray on Tuesday highlighted shares of Apple Inc. by adding them to its Alpha List, saying three key catalysts are likely to lead to significant share appreciation in the short term," Sam Oliver reports for AppleInsider.

"Companies assigned to the firm's Alpha List may have a 12-month rating of Buy, Neutral or Sell but, as a result of particular near-term catalysts or market conditions, an analyst chooses to emphasize the stock's potential for near-term growth," Oliver reports.

"'We have analyzed stock action around the September events over the last 3 years,' he advised cleints. 'On average shares of Apple have risen +4 percent from the week before to the week after the September event and +47 percent from the week before to four months after (through the holidays),'" Oliver reports.

I think I'm going to wait until the list at least hits beta.

Rember how this works now... SELL YOUR APPLE STOCK THE WEEK BEFORE THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT because it will drop like a rock right afterwards. I don't care if they announce the Apple iFusion device that promises to generate enough energy to run your house and your car for 10 years whilst removing more CO2 from the atmosphere than the average house plant, their stock will drop the next day, continue to drop, then settle in around 168 and start the long climb up again.

That settling point would be $153 thank you very much. That why I hate speculation, it so ...... speculitive.

and with the english language we actually add s's to "that" and "it" when using them in such a manor.

Sorry, Black MacBook Air on the brain...... Don't ask, Macdailynews is working on the photo email I recieved today.

I once posted on this list that the stock would hover around 165, according to the fibonacci tables.

Now, I have to say that the Piper Jaffray report is very much akin to what I have on my charts, 4% above the close going into the next week. As suggested by some here, there is a drop sometimes following the report, but the 47% growth by January is a very true statement.

Obviously making up your own mind on this play is important, but if you are in this for the long term, this is very good news, backed up by very good data. For those less speculative individuals, a look at the Leaps may produce a good income going into January.

@ jarrettdailynews: "and with the english language we actually add s's to "that" and "it" when using them in such a manor."
I think you meant to write 'manner'.

Sep 03, 08 - 05:37 am Comment from: dd

@Brit

No, he meant manor. Therefore, one only has to add an s to "that" and "it" when in someone's mansion.

raspberry raspberry

Hahahaha. MW - College - a place to go and learn the difference between Manor and Manner, before attempting to give other English lessons (not lessens, which is a word, BTW).

Soon the iPhone will have a money making app. called iMint? It will have constant access to the stock market and an algorithim that will enable it to buy & sell shares as they rise & fall. The profit accrued over a given month will be emailed to the Royal Mint or Fort Knox, they will then convert that into hard cash which will be posted to you by armed couriers!

Long Live Apple inc,
Long Live Steve Jobs!!!!
