I wonder how many of them they actually sell? Personally if I was buying a Mac for the cool factor I'd find just having a Mac far cooler than having a gold one like this.

There... Now there is a Mac for Paris Hilton and the entire Hip-Hp community.

Dec 10, 07 - 10:40 am Comment from: Wealthy Industrialite

I have 7 of these, one for each day of the week.

Dec 10, 07 - 10:44 am Comment from: Yea....

It was only a matter of time before Apple products got ghettofied by third party ghettofiers.

Is there a gold iPhone next?

Dec 10, 07 - 10:45 am Comment from: loganson

bling bling baby

gold is soft so I imagine scuffs and scratches are par for the course.

Dec 10, 07 - 10:45 am Comment from: Mr. Reeee

That is TACK-EEE.

That's as bad as putting spoilers and spinners on a Beamer.

Now why on earth would you want to ruin a nice laptop by doing that to it?

Dec 10, 07 - 10:49 am Comment from: Reclaimer

Yeah I can see some snob bringing one of those into the store and saying that there was champagne spilled in the keyboard.

And I'll tell them it's accidental damage and isn't covered by the warranty.

Dec 10, 07 - 10:51 am Comment from: loganson

ok, I thought having a mabook pro was enough of a theif magnet. now this.

24-karat gold MacBook Pro: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 17" TFT display - $7999

Bringing a snooty so and so back down to Earth - priceless.

Dec 10, 07 - 11:07 am Comment from: ziggyonice

i love the description on the site:

"If a gold-plated MacBook Pro isn't enough, perhaps one with a diamond-encrusted Apple logo will win her heart forever."

jeez... somebody's whipped...

Dec 10, 07 - 11:10 am Comment from: Ampar

Does it come with a white, long hair Persian cat and a Hawaiian assassin?

Dec 10, 07 - 11:10 am Comment from: NCMacMan

Dec 10, 07 - 11:29 am Comment from: DJ

Hmmm, I hate to admit it, because I think my taste buds have just plumbed new depths..

Arrgh... I actually rather like it, in a totally preposterous sort of way!

Wonder if they do an alligator hide version, complete with a 'gator-green glow to the logo?

wink

Ships with PimpSoft. Manages up to 16 personal toxins, politicians, and hookers for the harried executive.

Dec 10, 07 - 11:33 am Comment from: wannabe

I love the way hawkers of electroplated junk go on about "24-karat gold!" as if that were a feature. If it were possible to do 18-karat plating, that would be way better. Good jewelry is never 24-karat gold as it doesn't last.

ghettofied macbook pro. wow, if you buy this for 8000 you are truly an idiot. period.

Dec 10, 07 - 12:08 pm Comment from: maclife

This laptop is clearly unique. Its not for everyone, just like a six figure car or a seven figure piece of art is not for everyone. Its for someone that *thinks different, wants to express their individualism and has the resources to do so. The marketers did their research & obviously determined enough of a niche market exist to profit from well heeled buyers somewhere in this world.

Dec 10, 07 - 12:09 pm Comment from: hagar57

Gold plating is so vulgar! I had my Mac Book Pro encased in a solid Sterling silver case. It dissipates heat so much better than the original aluminium case. The Apple logo, of course, is an inlay made of Onyx, to protect against malware.

Dec 10, 07 - 12:11 pm Comment from: MacRaven

Every Rapper on the planet will want a Mac now.

And nothin' wrong with that!

Dec 10, 07 - 12:29 pm Comment from: Ampar

But is it snappier?

Dec 10, 07 - 12:30 pm Comment from: Macaday

Apple and Bling go together like OSX and Windows.

Dec 10, 07 - 12:38 pm Comment from: @pplePi

Now if it was platinum plated...

I kind of like it...

Dec 10, 07 - 12:44 pm Comment from: i love goooooold

This is retarded... If everyone thinks the back of an iPod shows a lot of scratches, just imagine how this genius of a product will look after about a week's use.

Dec 10, 07 - 01:08 pm Comment from: iSteve

Money cannot buy good taste.

Dec 10, 07 - 02:17 pm Comment from: no longer my eMac

It's strange that you all didn't post this over a week ago when the ad started running on the right side of your web pages.

Dec 10, 07 - 05:03 pm Comment from: Yours Smugly

Now there's enough glossiness to make all the glossy haters go blind!

Dec 11, 07 - 04:00 am Comment from: TheConfuzed1

Why would anyone spend so much money on this, when you can get a 24k gold Dell for so much cheaper? wink
