“Emirates Mac had the pleasure of trying out a development beta version of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger localized in Arabic. This means it’s not just the Arabic support that has been present in Mac OS X since 10.2 Jaguar, but a complete Mac OS X in Arabic. The localization process is still under way and there is no known release date,” EmiratesMac reports.
EmiratesMac reports, “A first glimpse clearly shows that this is unfinished project, so many commands, applications, menus are in a mix of English and Arabic. That said, we obviously expect a fully Arabized Mac OS X when this project is completed. For example, the System Preferences window title is named in Arabic, while its relevant command in the Apple menu is still in English. The Arabic font is overall smooth and readable, but wordings are not accurate in some areas. The often rumored resolution-independent interface that may be a part of Leopard would probably help make the Arabic font more readable since the user then can adjust the font size to suit the screen they use.”

There will be millions more unles we kill ourselves off through war or by destroying the environment. Actually, there are Macs in use at the Saudi Ministry of Defense (I could tell you more, but then I’d have to kill you). It’s nice to see Apple doing an Arabic Mac OS X. The text support is there, for a change, so it’s mostly a matter of localization/translation. Keep in mind that there’s a lot of money over there in the middle-east. It’d certainly help Apple’s worldwide marketshare.
Of course, personally, I’m still waiting for Vietnamese Mac OS X…

I hate to point it out the circular reasoning you are using in your own argument. You’ve already decided from the outset that the Bible is not the Word of God and you continue that until your conclusion is the Bible is not the Word of God.
But that is excatly the point! We all use circular reasoning when it comes to our ultimate appeal to authority. It is not so much that faith takes over where reason stops, but that all reasoning is a matter of faith. Without the Christian God, you cannot reason at all.

There’s a huge amount of proof for the validity of the Bible outside of the Bible text itself. That’s called “apologetics”. Read the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel for a start.
There’s also the fact that thousands of Christians across the world right now are witnessing miracles so incredible and profound they make the Biblical miracles seem tame by comparison. Read Megashift by James Rutz and you’ll find out some of the amazing things happening around the world right now.
Christians, real Christians, don’t believe the Bible because they believe the Bible — they believe the Bible because they believe God. God comes first, and Christians experience Him is a way that is as real as the desk sitting in front of you. If all we believed were words on a page, you could make fun of us all you want. If this globe was nothing more than molecules in random motion, then I would venture to say that scientific exploration would be destroyed – any event of uniformity would be considered a miracle!

Also, the apple menu is top left and spotlight on top right, it may make sense to mirror image it, so that the most important most used menus appear to the right (intuitive in a language left right to left) and the least important on the left.
Besides, it might be of interest to some folks here that there is no “P” phonetic equivalent in Arabic, so Apple will be spelt and pronounced “Abble” in Arabic. Like in the Dubai “Abble Store” pictures posted on mdn a few months back.

If you look at a Macintosh dialog, you’ll notice that the default button is always on the right side of the dialog and the Cancel button is to the left of it. No matter what the language is. Check Japanese–it’s the same way.
Button placement has nothing to do with the way a language is read. You’re thinking of Windows, which tends to center the buttons and the default button is usually the left-most one because “That’s what the user will read first.” It’s part of the fallacy that users actually read dialog boxes–they tend to read the buttons first, which is why you should avoid buttons that say “Yes”, “No”, “OK”, “Do It”, etc.
Entertaining trivia: The reason the default button is on the right is that most people are right-handed, making the right-most button easier to click. Part of UI studies that Apple has done.
The Apple menu is located on the top-left as well because the corners of the screen are easiest to get to. Whether it’s left or right doesn’t really matter.
By the way, while Arabic text is read right to left, numbers are read left to right. And for the rambling racists out there, if it weren’t for Arabic numbers, we’d still be adding VI + IV to get X. As a friend of mine put it, “Remember that these people were doing trigonometry and knew the Earth circled the Sun back when Europeans were still trying to master hygiene.”

If you look at the dialogs in the actual article linked to in MDN, there is one dialog asking you if you want to restart the system. The triangle + circle icon here is on the left side in the dialog on our macs, but as can be seen in the pic I linked to here
it is located oj the right side in the “Arabic” OSX. And the text is right justified as oposed to the one in our OSX version.
I was saying that though this may appear weird and a sort of mirror image, it would make sense for those who read right to left* once the work in progress is complete and the text is fully arabic. Also the cancel button is to the right of the restart button here.

As someone who has been longing for OS X support for Arabic, who has been longing for Word support for Arabic, who has wanted to see Apple expand its market, I was extremely happy to see the development of an Arabic version of Tiger. I hope Apple supports this. That said, I am appaled at the outright racist and despicable comments that have littered this site. Frankly, all claims to Mac owners being “smarter” and the like have gone out the window. I was hoping to mainly read messages from others who have been waiting for this or from Apple fans who are happy the company may expand. Instead, we have a bunch truly ignorant and ugly comments. I don’t share your white supremicists views, but I do believe that the Muslim faith has lost it’s “checks and balances” and I suspect that a time is coming where the violence that they are preaching is “checked”. However, as a point of clarification, the Jews are God’s chosen people – as a Christian, I believe this to be the case. We are all sons of Abraham.
Also, I believe that Arabs have contributed some to society, but I’d humbly suggest that an honest review of the past millenium will show that the Middle East has had very little growth (other than Israel) since Mohammad started his faith.

The mistakes that successive American administrations have made were…
a) allow Europe to get away with not paying its fair share for defence during the Cold War
b) spending far too much of US GDP on defense
c) allowing social security spending to slip the leash at some point in the mid-Seventies
The first mistake led to many European countries adopting social and economic programmes that will – due to declining birth-rates and increasing life expectancy – lead to budgetary collapse for several countries. In reality, American defence largesse has led to a situation where we created a crypto-Socialist utopia that Moscow could only have imagined in their dreams.
Don’t believe me – go and look at Israel, where American ‘foreign aid’ (admittedly lobbied for by a vocal Jewish lobby) has created a state that is addicted to military spending which detracts from any imperative to pursue diplomacy as a means of first resort.
And the second and third mistakes have, for over fifty years, produced a trickle-down consumer spending boom paid for with someone else’s money, because even if you’re not personally in debt, the government which funds so much of what happens in the US has borrowed the money from a variety of creditor nations.
And don’t get me wrong: there is barely a Western European/North American country that isn’t now caught in the same trap. UK personal debt is now estimated at over £1 trillion ($1.8 trillion) whilst public debt is rapidly approaching nearly £500 billion.
As things stand, every American (man, woman child) has a $14,500 debt hanging over their head put there by the Federal Government. And that’s money that somebody got, initially mainly in defense handouts followed by social security and – from 1975 onwards – in social security followed by defence.
And that doesn’t include the money that the Federal Government gives to foreign governments in the name of “international security assistance”, which reached its zenith in the middle of the Reagan years ($10.5 billion), but even now continues at around $8.0 billion.
In the UK, that figure is about the same: £8,200 per head of population which is actually over $15,000 as things stand today.

We have to pay interest on our own money, if the government handled our currency, no interest would be charged.
