Thursday, July 29, 2010 - 06:59 PM EDT

Apple Store"Hot on the heels of my last report, Psystar has filed its Reply Brief in response to Apple," dizzle reports for World of Apple.

"Psystar asserts that copyright only governs copying and not restrictions on use," dizzle reports. "Even at first blush, this appears absurd. I cannot play a non-copied movie for a public audience at a theater."

dizzle reports, "Psystar conveniently ignores the fact that the case deal with hardware components (replacement parts)."

MacDailyNews Take: In Esperanto, Psystar means "mentally challenged."

These guys SO remind me of the Knight in the forest from Monty Python and the Holy Grail: his arms and hands are chopped off, his legs and feet are chopped off, and he still wants to fight.

I can't take any "reporting" seriously when the reporter calls himself (or herself) "dizzle." Actually, never mind... I can't take ANY report that deals with Pystar seriously.

Psystar... Sounds familiar... Didn't they used to be a thing?

Psystar is NOT an Esperanto word. For starters, there is no letter "y" in the Esperanto alphabet. Esperanto is an inflected language - in this case it means that a past participle ("challenged") must end in "-ita".

Jul 30, 10 - 12:00 pm Comment from: Greg L

“Plystar” is now tech-speak that translates to “Naive young dorks who had no common sense whatsoever and get crushed by a steam roller.”

They are a bug-splat on our windshield of life.

Fuck ‘em.

Hmmm...

While I've always been a big Apple fan, I do sometimes get concerned about Apple's ability to limit their users use of their products. Remember, what Apple can do, Microsoft and Comcast will do as well, and without Apple's concern for their customers.

There remain lots of things that a Mac Netbook could do that an iPad can't. There is a difference between copyright insuring fair compensation of authors, and copyright being used to prevent product categories from even existing.

Aug 03, 10 - 08:43 am Comment from: MacRaven

Phystar is like on of those flies at a picnic that keeps buzzing around and keeps trying to land on your face. Gross, distracting and annoying but non-life threatening.

I still wonder where their funding comes from to serve the above purpose.
