Security cameras, audit helped solve iPhone thefts from Apple Store Rockingham Park
Friday, March 28, 2008 - 09:24 PM EDT "The two men accused of stealing 330 iPhones from the Mall at Rockingham Park [Salem, NH] did it all in one night, planning to make $138,600 from one buyer, police said," James A. Kimble reports for The Eagle-Tribune."They were caught with basic security measures, according to a police affidavit released yesterday," Kimble reports.
"Store security cameras recorded employees Christopher Nashed, 22, of Sandown and Josh Garrard, 28, of Methuen, Mass., removing boxes of iPhones from the Apple store after it closed after midnight on Dec. 22, the affidavit says," Kimble reports.
"Yesterday, both men found themselves in front of District Court judges in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Nashed was ordered held on $250,000 bail, pending his next hearing. Garrard waived extradition from Lawrence (Mass.) District Court on a fugitive from justice charge," Kimble reports.
"Apple store managers reported the thefts to police after a store audit showed 330 iPhones were never sold through the store's registers and were simply gone, police said," Kimble reports.
