Sharing multiple files at once with Apple’s MobileMe iDisk
Thursday, February 19, 2009 - 12:15 PM EDT

MobileMe - Apple Store (U.S.)Yes, there is a way to use the new iDisk sharing feature to share multiple files at once. It can be done easily using the Compress command in the iDisk web app.

Here's how:

1) Select the files or folders you want to share. (To select multiple files hold down the Command key on a Mac or the Control key on a PC as you click on each one.)

2) Use the Actions menu via the Gear icon in the Toolbar, and select Compress items. This will automatically create a single compressed file named Archive.zip that contains your files or folders.

3) Share Archive.zip file just as you would any other iDisk file. (Before you share it, you can change the "Archive" part of the name to something more descriptive, but keep the .zip extension so the receiver's computer will know to decompress the files when the receiver opens it.)

I shared multiple files the same way, the other day.

Works like a charm.

this should be in boldface. i don't know how many times i'll get files from Mac users that have the Mac resources stripped in transit and all it says is "cover". is it a zip file? a Quark file? are you asking me to cover your ignorant a**?

Question, is there a tutorial on using the sharing features of idisk? Never tried this function, i usually use a "sendthisfile" type email service. thanks so much!

Too bad it seems to take forever to upload files to iDisk. I've tried sharing files (photos, mostly) via the iDisk public folder with friends, and they tell me the process is so slow they give up after one or two photos... What gives?

I wish this wasn't a multi-step process. You first have to take the time to put the file on iDisk and then send it. I wish I could just put the file in an outgoing email, and if it was over a certain size had an option to share via iDisk and have Mail load the file to iDisk for me.
