MacDailyNews Take: Which one do we use? Just like Marmarou (stated in full article), we use the free and very capable Cyberduck.
MacDailyNews Note: (added: 12:51pm EDT): With the Cyberduck Widget, just F11 to Exposé, grab your file(s), then F12 to invoke Dashboard and drop said files onto Cyberduck Widget (you need to configure the Widget with your specific FTP info first, of course).

Fugu. I don’t do FTP for security reasons (except for anonymous access, which doesn’t involve divulging a password).
If i need an anonymous FTP download, i just use the Finder.
I would not trust FTP with access to my machine, transmiting username and password unencrypted over the net is just plain stupid! SFTP is the way to go.
Gave up on CyberDuck after it refused to upload 1 folder. instead it forced me to upload the whole website. deleting folder also proved wonky. Thus, as much as I like “free’ I’ll pony up for Transmit. Too bad Interarchy became bloated with extras…

Cyberduck works well for me. I also still use old and dated Fetch 4.0.3. Fugu has its place.

For Windows, Riverfront Software makes an FTP client that gives full Explorer access to any FTP server. The server shows up as just another letter drive and you access files on that FTP server from any application’s open/save dialog. For all of the Mac’s advanced features I’m still waiting for this simple integration.
Fetch works great for me. I got a student license, so it was free for me.

Transmit rocks. Well worth the shareware price.
Captain FTP has always works flawlessly for FTP and SFTP.
Reading the article, this is reason Captain FTP was not considered:
“CaptainFTP – Lots of features but a UI that looks so ugly I wouldn’t recommend the app.”
The UI has the look and iTunes and Safari. The UI is not ugly, this was not a fair comparision.
Fetch has my money!
