I have a problem with a couple of those

I didn't agree with a few of his points, but after reading his explanations I can totally see where he's coming from.

I liked the article for it's lack of BS and platform warmongering.

why is this guys post getting so much recognition? It's a poorly written piece that doesn't really say anything that others in more powerful positions haven't already said much more effectively.
Makes me want to write a blog post about the obvious merits of OS X and put some Google ads on it for you to help me promote.

Haha his page doesn't load up in OS9. I'm so sick of OS9! Company says an upgrade to OS10 and MacPros is happening this year. Thank God.

It didn't load for me either using Netscape 7 on OS9, but I tried in in IE on OS9 and it worked fine. For once, a Microsoft product actually worked. Amazing.

I was first going to disagree with him, however he could be referring to not having to buy add ons or accessories that are required to get a PC up to the same level as a Mac.

Or if your display goes on the blink, it can take days or weeks to get your machine back.

exactly how much less than days would you expect it to take? minutes? Seconds maybe?

Yeh, if I see a nice piece of software, there's usually something on Sourceforge that is free and much easier and better to use.

So he's right, there isn'tmuch stuff to buy for a Mac, it's usually free.

It's true. People do ridicule you for having a Mac. But then they want to check their email while at your house… and once you have them in the chair, a little demonstration is in order. Needless to say, the drool I have seen on PC users' chins after checking out my MacBook Pro makes me smile, knowing that their decision on a PC will not be so easy the next time.

If he sold his used macs to IRESQ or Ifixit he might get a better price because these guys buy older powerbooks and sometimes mac minis for spare parts.

It won't load in Firefox 2.0.0.2, running in 10.4.8, either, even when the user agent switcher is set to IE. So I dumped the cache and cleared the history, quit Firefox and restarted it through Terminal, using safe mode, to ensure that no extensions were screwing it up. I did all that before posting the first time.

Using Safari, the typeface loses its ledding — each line is squashed into the next — even when the type size and minimum type size is set to 8 points. The same thing happens with iCab in 9.

Why would anyone care what he thinks when the site is a dog's breakfast of bad code? He obviously can't get a real job.

No, you'll WANT to spend more money with Mac/OS X, you HAVE to spend way, WAY more money with Windows : )

It's money well spent with Apple, it's sucked into a black hole with M$.

A much more realistic list (also free from whining and hysteria):

00: You'll begin with amazement and a burst of satisfaction at how easy the Mac is to set up and get running, not to mention the clean and attractive aesthetics both in the machine and the OS
01: You'll feel a little uncomfortable at first as you get used to the differences (usually based on unfamiliar simplicity, logic, and usability)
02: You'll be pleasantly surprised (and possibly relieved) at how your peripherals still work and how you can still do almost all the things you did on a PC
03: For those few things that you couldn't initially do, after a little frustration, you find new ways to do them
04: Soon you'll realize that those new ways tend to be much more productive, easy, and pleasant than the old PC ways
05: At this point, for the next few weeks you'll continuously slap yourself for not switching earlier
06: You will then begin to realize why all those other Mac users are so keen on Apple products, and that you are quickly identifying with them
07: Eventually you will simply settle in to being another satisfied Mac user, occasionally wondering why anyone would ever buy a PC

The attempt at down-to-earth objectivity is admirable.

If you are forced to use Windoze at work, you will grow to hate it more and more each day and wonder why you can't it work as easily and as reliably as your Mac.

Fewer will TRY and none will succeed.

Actually, "most" is correct, because Mac users still have to deal with those "macro" viruses that work through Microsoft Office programs.

It isn't a highly formalized article of vast importance, so the piece is properly written. It is an unusual piece, however, because it says EVERYTHING that others of more notoreity have mentioned before...except in a single piece, with explanations and without a lot of obvious objectivity.

I was going to balk at a few items, but when I thought about it...

------- In a way, yes, because all Macs are full-featured machines. Every port and connection you'll need is built-in, already there.

16 You'll spend more money than with Windows

------- In a way, yes. When you discover that you do not FEAR your Mac, that it actually DOES what YOU want and actually enables you to do things you never DREAMED you'd ever do, you'll actually go out and buy more software and accessories so you can do even MORE!

I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.2, running in 10.4.8 on an old G4.

Everything opens properly and looks great!

I'm sure it will be the same on my G5 at home.

As far as Safari goes, the problem you're having with fonts is a conflict with one of the system fonts. I've run into this before as well.

I just run Firefox and don't worry about it.

For other computers, 24 hours maximim with the service technician coming to your home/business.

It's amazing what you Apple lemmings have come to regard as a "Good" level of service.
