TheStreet.com’s Scott Moritz: Steve Jobs’ health announcement just a ‘temporary salve’ for Apple
Monday, January 05, 2009 - 04:25 PM EST "Don't count on Apple chief Steve Jobs dashing onto the stage in a surprise appearance at the Macworld show this week," Scott Moritz writes for TheStreet.com."Apple fans -- aware that Jobs was not giving the big speech -- held out hope that he might show up for a quick 'hello' to put health rumors to rest," Moritz writes. "But according to Jobs, his doctors have only now discovered the source of his weight loss -- a hormone imbalance -- so it's probably safe to assume he's looking even thinner than before. Jobs says he's begun a remedy to the nutritional problem but says that it may take until Spring to regain the weight."
Moritz writes. "The problem is that Apple, whose stock was rising $4.75 to $95.50 on Monday's news, is pretty much a one-man show, at least to investors."
MacDailyNews Take: To which investors, Scott? The ones you're trying to influence or the ones who have at least two brain cells to rub together and can see right through you. That'd be figuratively, as seeing through a slime bucket is quite difficult regardless of mental acumen.
Moritz continues, "And this time around the company wants to avoid the scene-stealing impact Jobs' alarmingly thin appearance had in June, at his last public appearance."
MacDailyNews Take: The dope can't - or won't - get even basic facts correct: Steve Jobs held a special presentation in the middle of October. Right after the one he did in September. Is Moritz a liar or ignoramus? You decide.
Moritz continues, "Last month, Apple announced that marketing chief Phil Schiller, not Jobs, would deliver the keynote speech. The announcement followed months of silence as concerns about Jobs' health flourished."
MacDailyNews Take: Yes, "concerns flourished" from your keyboard and those like you, Scott. Vile.
Moritz continues, "Beyond Jobs, there isn't a clear successor. Apple's management bench isn't all that deep with visionaries."
MacDailyNews Take: What a load. As usual. Jobs' statement about his health this morning seems to be a powerful catalyst for exhuming scum to the surface of the Internet. We weep for humanity today.
