What's the point? Who in France is going to buy/rent anything that isn't dubbed into French? Why did they bother?

@Steve516

Nope, sorry

"Purchase and download of songs and videos from the iTunes Store requires a valid credit card from a financial institution in the country of purchase."

So you'd need a credit card from France to get stuff from the french iTunes.

I actually in general hate all this complicity and artificial restrictions. They are only designed to make more money for the large media corporations. I mean... seriously - we all live on a very small planet and it's 21st century already. All information and content SHOULD be freely accessible/purchasable from whatever part of the world.

Oh boy! Jerry Lewis reruns!

C'est magnifique! It often seems that the U.S. and Western Europe (or at least the EU3) are the primary launching grounds for Apple's new products and services (for Canada, lamentably, it's more hit-or-miss).

So why don't we have the French (or for that matter British) content here is the US??? Why do we have to wait for some Hollywood 'tard to buy the rights and make a disgusting made-in-hollywood f_up of the original...

Like

La Cage aux folles
Insomnia
Abre Los Ojos
La Chèvre
Les Compères
...

You name it—anytime Hollywood gets its hands on a great original it makes a bad movie... and Hollywood's balkanization of the cultural landscape through market carving makes it hard for anyone to see the original.

I'm tired of having to buy and ship DVD's from other countries... use them on my hacked DVD player when I should be able to buy the dang product on iTunes...

Heck... I'm deluded! iTunes has not even been given a level playing field for Hollywood movies... I should be able to watch a trailer, add it to my "watch list" then when it gets released as movie get told where it is playing, then when it gets released as a rental or purchasable from iTunes be given the chance to watch it ... but oh no that would just be too much control by the consumer.

But then, the delusion is even deeper... maybe I'd really only like to see the movie version that the director created and not the audience expected edit to crap version that passes as the cinematic release... Like when Brazil was released in the US...

Why would the consumer have control when Hollywood doesn't even given the creators control....

You want to download French content? You want it gratuit, too? That's crazy, but if you simply must ... Try Wizzgo.

http://www.wizzgo.com/

It's brand spankin' new and they've got a Mac client. It's working fine for me here in Quebec. Movies, Documentaries, TV. Straight outta France. Can't get much more frenchified than that, eh?
