What happens when you combine clips of Young Frankenstein and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer?
Thursday, June 08, 2006 - 07:34 AM EST

"The clip I used is several years old, but I only recently saw it for the first time and felt so inspired that I had to do this. It was too perfect not to try," Daphne writes in introducing her 3:42 minute video on YouTube. Daphne's video combines clips from "Young Frankenstein" and various appearance of Microsoft CEO Steve "Monkey Boy" Ballmer. "Young FrankenSteve" was added to YouTube on May 16, 2006, but, thanks to MacDailyNews reader "Frank," we only now stumbled upon it. As of this post, the video's only been viewed 4,900 times, so for those who haven't seen it, here ya go. Note: stick with it, the song and dance number (starts at 1:30) is priceless:

Jun 08, 06 - 08:07 am Comment from: BrooklynNYC

Some would say that Ballmer is enthusiastic. I, however, think that he looks like an ass. Another great "invention" by Microsoft.

Jun 08, 06 - 08:11 am Comment from: Bonkers for Mac

Kudos to Daphne! (wherever (and whoever) she may be)

MW: "kept"

Too many possibilities on this one -- make one up to suit yourself.

Jun 08, 06 - 08:12 am Comment from: Dogadoga

Now I know why they call him "Monkey Boy"!

Jun 08, 06 - 08:13 am Comment from: deedubya

That's funnier than a hat full of busted bums!

Jun 08, 06 - 08:38 am Comment from: gypsy

"Another great "invention" by Microsoft."

Which, an enthusiastic Balmer or an ass?

An enthusiastic Balmer can't be copied, but an ass can.

Jun 08, 06 - 08:40 am Comment from: Buster

Ballmer gives Frankenstein a bad name.....

Jun 08, 06 - 08:43 am Comment from: gzero

Wow. Just...wow.

Jun 08, 06 - 08:44 am Comment from: Steve Ballmer

Yeah, laugh, but remember what the woman discovered I had inherited?

"Oh sweet mystery of life at last I've found you..."

But then everyone knows I'm a big dick...

Jun 08, 06 - 09:24 am Comment from: Ray

Ballmer is out of control. The stock holders need to take control of that company and clean house.

Jun 08, 06 - 09:25 am Comment from: Mac Man

Oh man! Thats him!

(Funniest part of the movie too)

Jun 08, 06 - 09:25 am Comment from: AG Pennypacker

Blucaso -

Ditto!

Jun 08, 06 - 09:37 am Comment from: Tank

Young Frankenstein will never be the same.

Who knew, Ballmer's afraid of fire and loves the violin so grab your pitchfork and torch! The evil empire's gonna fall tonight!!

Jun 08, 06 - 09:38 am Comment from: LastOneStanding!

Choked on my gum! DTF!

Jun 08, 06 - 09:43 am Comment from: No Fair

That's offensive to the creature. Peter Boyle must mad.

Jun 08, 06 - 09:49 am Comment from: Spread the words!

I must warn my PC friends! grin

Jun 08, 06 - 09:54 am Comment from: R

That was sweet!

Ballmer's seriously creepy.

Jun 08, 06 - 09:58 am Comment from: Teflon

Let's be nice to Ballmer, because he's the best man on Apple's team. I would hate to see him replaced by someone competent.

Jun 08, 06 - 10:47 am Comment from: Hubkap

I LOLed IRL for a good 20 minutes.

Jun 08, 06 - 10:54 am Comment from: Abby Normal

Has anyone seen my brain?

Jun 08, 06 - 10:59 am Comment from: MacMind

Someone send this to Balmer's children.

Jun 08, 06 - 11:11 am Comment from: Eric

Jun 08, 06 - 11:18 am Comment from: Frau Bluker

...some Ovaltine, perhaps?

Jun 08, 06 - 11:24 am Comment from: Angelus520

That was freakin' brilliant!!!

Now it's been viewed 10,307 times so go MDN!

Jun 08, 06 - 11:24 am Comment from: AG Pennypacker

I just noticed two things:

1. Ballmer resembles an uncle fester-ish/quasi-Richard Simmons

2. Some serious perspiration issues should draw the likes of "SpeedStick", "Old Spice", and Dare I suggest "Axe"?

Jun 08, 06 - 11:26 am Comment from: Majikthize

Anyone else here see a strong resemblence between Steve Balmer and Dick Cheney?

Jun 08, 06 - 11:27 am Comment from: Nick

Absolutely incredible. I think Ballmer is giving the president a run for his money at this point.

Jun 08, 06 - 11:33 am Comment from: John

LOL This is perfect! Good job to whomever did this.

This is the most that I have laughed at work at something that no one else here gets. :D

Jun 08, 06 - 04:17 pm Comment from: daphne

WOW! Thanks for all of the love, everyone! This was for the May VideoSift contest (http://www.videosift.com) and I am really amazed that so many people are enjoying it. Amazed, but very very happy.

Thanks for the wonderful review, MDN. You're right - it's slow at first...but I hope the wait is worth it.

And "Frank" (whoever you are)...THANKS!

I'm glad it gave you guys a giggle. Steve tends to do that, doesn't he?

Jun 08, 06 - 05:09 pm Comment from: Kaliko

Thanks daphne - that was lots of work and really appreciated!

Jun 08, 06 - 05:47 pm Comment from: maczealot

Why does Microsoft have to hire Demetri Martin? They already have a celebrity spokesperson, The Creature. The Creature’s wild arm flailing, immature skipping, feet stomping, crazed facial expressions, glaring eyes, and incoherent and rambling speech seem the perfect introduction for Vista. Seriously, folks, I suspect that Microsoft will receive the same reaction from PC-users when Vista is unleashed upon society as the horrified audience is with The Creature. I see a rapid increase in pitchfork and torch sales, and frequent mob gathering on moonlit nights where PCs are retailed.

When Microsoft promised a monster OS I guess we should have taken them at their word. However, I don’t think that they expected that Vista would eventually be a ghoulish and ghastly assemblage of digital body parts of from the dead bodies of Windows NT.

Jun 08, 06 - 07:18 pm Comment from: ©

MDN is mistaken - this is actual historical documentary footage! smile

Jun 08, 06 - 08:42 pm Comment from: Brad T

Well done Daphne.

So how did you go in the contest? I am guessing it wasn't sponsored by Microsoft? smile

I am also confused as to your profession - movie maker or anthropologist?

Best Regards

BT

Jun 08, 06 - 11:18 pm Comment from: daphne

You got it, BT and little "c" sign that I can't be bothered with to find on my computer, this is actual footage discovered at an anthropological excavation. M$ is trying to cover it all up. wink

The SiftOff is a bi-monthly contest where you can submit original material and viewers vote on the videos they like best. It's a great way to showcase your work. Here's the info on it: http://www.videosift.com/blog/story.php?id=1505

The next one is in July.

Jun 09, 06 - 12:19 am Comment from: Psyko

That was incredibly awesome.

I sill almost feel sorry for the guy though. I would hate to get as much crap as he does.

Jun 02, 08 - 11:48 am Comment from: Art Approaching
