Will Obama bring his Apple Mac to the White House?
Monday, January 19, 2009 - 11:24 AM EDT

"Barack Obama is a Mac. At least that’s how the NYT described his style, approach, manner — naming rival Hillary Clinton a PC about a year ago," Nicole Martinelli reports for Cult of Mac.

"The soon-to-be 44th president of the United States, who addresses citizens via YouTube and Twitter, is also a Mac user who has been spotted flashing an iPhone, keeps up with his family via iChat, whose 'O' logo was designed on a Mac and whose campaign was powered by MacBooks," Martinelli reports.

Actually, I believe MacBook Pros were used, not MacBooks; after all they have the money! But seriously, one picture of a MacBook Pro on the Oval Office desk, can only help sales!

Jan 19, 09 - 12:28 pm Comment from: John Gee

Well, Bush did. smile

Jan 19, 09 - 12:30 pm Comment from: Michael

Who gives a rip what lord, messiah B. HUSSEIN Obama does?! Give me a break. Give us ALL a break. The 'One' is gonna screw us all (i.e. spread the wealth). Keep worshipping him, the Kool-Aid is being prepared now. Get in line and wait your turn to drink. Bow now to his immaculateship.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:32 pm Comment from: theloniousMac

No, but seeing as how they're spending close to $200,000,000 to party in the administration of change, I would like to take this opportunity to point out that if I were claiming to stand for change and hope, etc., I think I'd use the two hundred million dollars to possibly:

- Pay medical expenses for a few needy people maybe?
- Help some folks stay in their homes?
- Give some help to single parents working 2 jobs attempting to put 3 kids through school?

But noooo.... B. Hussein Obama is gonna spend $200,000,000, in these times, partying with the likes of Barbara Striesand and Kenye West.

Oh the change is staggering.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:32 pm Comment from: The Obama Recession

OttawaMark,

60 million U.S. voters, nearly 1 out of every two voters did not vote for Barack Hussein Obama. 69.4 million for Obama vs. 60.0 million for McCain or 53% vs. 46% respectively.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:33 pm Comment from: Ludor

Bush doesn't own a Mac! Does he?

Jan 19, 09 - 12:35 pm Comment from: theloniousMac

@Ludor

Bush was a Mac user when B. Hussein was still learning the ropes of dirty Chicago politics.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:36 pm Comment from: Michael

Change is a-comin'!
We're building the biiiiiig slide of socialism to land us right
in the sandbox of communism.
King B. HUSSEIN Obama certainly will bring change and hope. Change for the worse and us hoping we just go ahead and die to be free from the ultra liberal damage about to be flung upon us all.
Just joyous.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:36 pm Comment from: Uncle Sam

Oh you guys are ridiculous! Get over it. He's our new President. grin

Jan 19, 09 - 12:38 pm Comment from: @ Obama Recession

Well, I guess a fair part of those 60 million just felt plain sorry for John, what with the lump on his face and all.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:39 pm Comment from: theloniousMac

@The Obama Recession

Don't forget... maybe a little over half the people in the country voted for B. Hussein, but Hussein out spent McCain like 3 to 1. The power brokers spent $600,000,000 (that's more than half a billion dollars) to put Hussein into office.

For that kind of money I could have put a monkey into office.

Speaking of which, I mean since he is the candidate of change, why not get a pet monkey instead of a dog? Name it Munkey. Get it a secret service agent. Let it accompany you on trips to the middle east! Teach it to throw poop at reporters when they throw it at you!

Jan 19, 09 - 12:41 pm Comment from: Ludor

@theloniousMac

Well, that's cool I guess.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:42 pm Comment from: theloniousMac

@Uncle Sam

You are of course right, but there's just so much fun to be had. The difference I think between conservatives and liberals is that while liberals acted like a psychotic cult, drunk with hatred in regard to President Bush, conservatives tend to have a smirk on their faces when thinking of B. Hussein.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:42 pm Comment from: Macintosher

SHUT UP ABOUT US POLITICS. Your president, life-and-death issues permitting, is there to stay until 2012. Give it a break until then, unless he goes barmy. The pressing issues of the many tyrant rulers in other "3rd-world" countries - e.g. the power struggle in Zimbabwe - are affecting a lot of people a lot worse than you. In any case, this is about Macs! Surely the more people that use them, and are happy because of it, the better. If they're used for ethically and morally correct purposes, does it matter who uses them? And remember: no human or human government is perfect. Stop squabbling.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:43 pm Comment from: Michael

@Uncle Sam
This nation won't get over it for a long, long, long time.
One good thing about the B. HUSSEIN Obama presidency, we'll all get a pass on illegal tax evasion with his new Treasury secretary. Slammin' good HOPE there. I always wanted to get rid of the destructive tax method of the IRS. I just never thought of the simple solution of JUST NOT PAYING! One way to keep some CHANGE in my pocket!

Jan 19, 09 - 12:44 pm Comment from: Con Job

It is amazing to contrast the mainstream media's treatment of the Bush inauguration celebrations' costs (in much better economic times) vs. the hugely more expensive Obama freak show that I, for one, am about to completely ignore.

Bush's modest celebrations' costs were plastered everywhere for weeks and Obama's is hardly mentioned.

This campaign firmly outed the media as Democrat/Liberal shills.

And now they want to celebrate the "success" of their selling out without mentioning to ridiculous wasteful spending.

I have one question: How many poor blacks could have gone to college for the cost of your gluttonous party, Mr. Change?

It's despicable.

The decline of Obama's approval ratings starts now.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:45 pm Comment from: zek

It's a bit stupid to liken presidential candidates to Macs and PCs, because there are actually real differences between Macs and PCs.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:46 pm Comment from: theloniousMac

The news media all but anointed B. Hussein the President. Pay close attention to the media now that he is President. It will be fascinating to see all the things that are suddenly ok. Just as the NY Times was defensive of, in fact called for, spying on American citizens when Clinton was the President, a recent article points out just how dangerous the captives in Gitmo are! LMAO.

B. Hussein's approval rating will not drop. Those who control the approval ratings will see to that.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:46 pm Comment from: Ottawa Mark

Wow. Some of you people are really pathetic. Regardless of how you feel about someone's politics, your rhetoric belies your immaturity and total lack of decorum. I thought the "conservative ideal" was supposed to be about honour and dignity? I guess your true colours are being revealed. You're Ann Coulter with only the nasty vindictiveness and not the savage wit.

He's becoming your President in 24 hours; give him a chance to screw up first before you start hurling this crap around.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:46 pm Comment from: Mark S.

Really though, who cares?

Jan 19, 09 - 12:49 pm Comment from: theloniousMac

@Ottawa Mark....

"...He's becoming your President in 24 hours; give him a chance to screw up first before you start hurling this crap around...."

Nah.

Blatant hypocrisy deserves the spotlight of humorous interpretation.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:50 pm Comment from: Michael

@ Macintosher
Can I give you a tissue? The whine seems serious. I have hear NOTHING but slander, hatred, and evil words directed at Bush for 8 years. If a fly in the south of the Sudan gets stepped on, it was Bush's fault. If a Nebula exploded on the other side of the Universe, it was Bush's fault. If ___________ happened negatively (fill in the blank), it was Bush's fault.
Ok, B. HUSSEIN Obama lover, the formula is now on the plate of "the One," the lord, messiah B. Hussein Obama.
Take it. Eat it. Live it. until 2012.

Jan 19, 09 - 12:50 pm Comment from: cjstheman

Wow.

Let's see... we have comments that include "kool-aid, several Husseins, socialism, communism, and my favorite immaculateship". Very impressive. You all make me soooo proud to be a Mac User.

Maybe you all should get together and try and pry Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren's lips off Sarah Palin's butt for a big group hug. But hey, keep taking that high road guys and "Think Different"!

Enjoy the coverage tomorrow. smile

Jan 19, 09 - 12:51 pm Comment from: Mark S.

I agree with Michael and I will add that as a living relative of Lincoln, comparing BHO with my famous cousin is like comparing Honest Abe with a skunk!

Jan 19, 09 - 12:55 pm Comment from: G Spank

The fact that almost half of the US population thinks that Bush did a good job and electing his successor and keeping the status quo would have been helpful to the nation is disturbing. Do that many people really hope for the USA to keep drowning in the misguided and divisive policies of Bush and the NeoCon Machine?

Jan 19, 09 - 12:56 pm Comment from: rancher

Funny - I always thought ALL politicians were Windows.
-Don't live up to reputation
-Broken promises
-Spend the whole time in office trying to get re-elected (upgrade)
-Susceptible to 40,000 virii (graft-greed-corruption)
Of course, that's just me. My political hero is George Pappoon

Jan 19, 09 - 12:57 pm Comment from: Michael

@ cjstheman
If left to the Chicago type politics that we'll be getting with B. HUSSEIN Obama, Apple will soon be government controlled, government run, and government destroyed like anything else the government takes over.
He, give me all your money, I am gonna save this country by redistributing your money to people I think needs it. You just be quiet, keep working so you can give me more money to give (er, control) other people.
And, uh, smile about it. Or better, yet, come to the party I'm throwing in DC to celebrate how easily I can get people to bend over and take it deep.
Cheers. Hope. Change. Obamanation.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:05 pm Comment from: Jeremy

I know MDN doesn't usually edit comments but the racist remarks by "theloniusMac" and "Obama Recession" are a bit beyond the pale.

I can't believe I've even talked to Thelonius on this thread as if he/she was a normal human being. I didn't realise I was talking to a rabid racist.

Please delete this whole article or at least consider banning these idiots from connecting at all. Thaknks.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:11 pm Comment from: Jeremy

What I really don't get is how anyone could revel in the artistry that is Thelonious Monk, and still be a racist a-hole hater.

The guy was black you know.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:13 pm Comment from: don

What a bunch of whiners and sore losers!

Jan 19, 09 - 01:15 pm Comment from: Michael

@ Jeremy
"racist" ?!?!
What middle school did you just graduate from?
And do you even know what 'rabid' means?
"Rabid" means the following: Printing via the media, ANY media, any and everything good and praiseworthy of B. HUSSEIN Obama. Let anything sinister, evil, and wrong about B HUSSEIN Obama never see the light of day in print. It means, all praise, honor, and worship be to B HUSSEIN Obama, in spite of his gangsta rap sheet, in spite of his corrupt cronies he surrounds himself with, in spite of his socialist, gun-hating, abortion loving political practices demonstrate.
Amen.
All praise to B HUSSEIN Obama.
Change.
Hope.
P.S. Come to my modest party in D.C. It's gonna be great. All my kooky far left wing Hollywood whacko's are gonna be there.
Yes, we can! (turn this country in to a socialist nation, with your ignorant help!)

Jan 19, 09 - 01:16 pm Comment from: theloniousMac

@Jeremy,

Ah the cries of the pathetic liberal. Once again you cry "racism" when truth be told, no single institution is more racist in the United States than the Democratic Party.

Being a black person, I find it very funny when people call me a racist. I see no superiority in the genetic artifacts of one group over another. I tend to fall in the "judge people by the content of their character" category.

As far as I know, you may be black also. No matter what, I suggest you dig deeply into what actually constitutes racism before hurling the slur. You might be surprised what you find. Your perceptions at this point are highly simplistic.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:21 pm Comment from: Undercover Brother

Whitey sure ain't taking this well.

Just wait until they start forcing y'all to use hot sauce on your bland food and making your ugly kids attend mandatory sprint classes in the summer.

We may even try to get middle-aged white men to dance in time to the music…or maybe that's asking too much.

In the meantime, where the white women at?

Jan 19, 09 - 01:21 pm Comment from: Ottawa Mark

@ Jeremy,

Well there's little doubt that "Obama Recession" and "Thelonius Mac" are obsessed with hatred, their attacks seem less about Obama's colour than it is over his father's Muslim background. But I suppose that still falls under racism. After all, we must distrust anything that's different.

I agree though with the irony that a great musician like Thelonius Monk would see his name distorted by the poster here.

Of course, what's not ironic is that Thelonius Monk DID have a history of mental illness, which may explain the connection... oh oh

Jan 19, 09 - 01:22 pm Comment from: Jean

Finally! Thank you Michael for saying what a lot of us have been thinking.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:23 pm Comment from: theloniousMac

OHHHHH!

@jeremy, I've been sitting here trying to figure out what the heck you thought was racist!

It was because I think Hussein should get a monkey! Right?

If I were President, I would. I would make him Press Secretary. I'd let the media sit there and talk to my monkey.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:23 pm Comment from: almux

SOme americans here seam to forget that every single scare inch of America is $ worship based!
With more monney (even 50 times outprinted paper as covered) one can do all he wants... Is he good or bad, this is irrelevant in USA.
There are just a lot of crazy talk... Blabla bla... Time will tell and the less idiots come along to critisize before some did something or yell as soon as they done get their fluffy fat hamburger the better America and the world will feel!

Jan 19, 09 - 01:24 pm Comment from: Michael

@ Jeremy
Re: racist issues.
Um, am I wrong, or. . .isn't B HUSSEIN Obama only 1/2 'black?' White mother, 'black' father. Couldn't we say he is 'white' as well? If 1/2 is something, why isn't the other half something? Eh?
I agree with theioniousMac. I don't give a flip if B. HUSSEIN Obama is 'black,' 'white,' '1/2 black,' 'half white,'
or a luscious shade of fuqua. His actions, all documented, and noted in his 'present' votes, the change that is coming is sure. It's government control at levels we've never, ever seen before in this country. It's socialism, pure and simple. Next logical and likely step, some flavor of communism.
Hope, yet right!
Loving my MacBook Pro and wondering if B HUSSEIN Obama will have a Mac in the White House, only makes me shudder. I despise knowing Mac's will be used to destroy this country.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:25 pm Comment from: Jeremy

@ theloniousMac

You still seem to be a hate-filled a-hole to me.

Your "monkey" jokes about the first black president are beyond the pale whether you are black or merely claim to be. Race is indeed meaningless, but the kind of ugliness you spread will probably accompany you to the grave.

If you *are* black, you don't understand much about the Monk, and as a black "conservative," who doesn't like Obama you are not only in a tiny minority, you have to be simply the biggest chump on the block. Being a black conservative today is a little bit like being a member of the American Fascist party at the height of world War II. At the very least you lack any kind of common decency or compassion.

I don't enjoy talking to people like you and the only way to deal with such is by ignoring them. Answer if you wish, but from now on don't expect any conversation from me going your way. You have revealed yourself as a despicable human being IMO.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:26 pm Comment from: Ottawa Mark

I'll give credit where it's due, Thelonius...

As the Walrus once sang: "Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey..."

Jan 19, 09 - 01:32 pm Comment from: theloniousMac

@Ottwa,

Silly man. I WAS RAISED FREAKING MUSLIM!!!!

You nutty Canuk. You guys are so condescending, and don't have any right to be. So uneducated. Yes I do hate radical Islam, with a passion. My parents were Islamic, but I outgrew it to tell the truth.

Actually, my disgust with radical Islam has nothing to do with race, or do you leftist consider absolutely anyone who disagrees with you a racist?

So let me get this straight... because I think Hussein is a hypocrite for spending $200,000,000 on a party to hang out with Hollywood scum offensive, especially in difficult economic times, I'm a racist.

Because I think the money would be better spent helping people who need it, I'm a racist.

Because I like monkeys I'm a racist?

Dude, monkey are funny.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:32 pm Comment from: Michael

Don't know where I got 'fuqua' as a color.
I meant 'fuchsia.'
Sorry, my racist bigotry must have slithered out in my
rant. Dealing with stupidity tends to get my electrolytes out f balance as well as my literary rods and cones.
Jeremy, I realize you might not get that, but no matter. Just show up at my immaculation celebration in DC, and everything will be alright.
Hope.
Change.
Megalomania.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:41 pm Comment from: theloniousMac

@Jeremy

You make my point, like every liberal I've ever met.

You seek to categorize me, based on the color of my skin. I have to think a certain way and only have certain opinions because I am black. That is so "Democratic" of you.

I have to support a particular Presidential candidate because he shares the same skin color with me. If I do not, I am a racist. Wow.

If I disagree, I must be mentally ill.

That is soooo liberal of you.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:43 pm Comment from: Ottawa Mark

@theloniusMac

In the early days of the web, there was a classic "New Yorker" cartoon with the punchline: "On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog".

Now, we have no way of knowing whether you really are black or were raised Muslim. Screaming it in caps proves nothing. But even if you are/were, that doesn't keep your constant emphasis of the "Hussein" in Obama's name from being racist. Otherwise, what is the point of bringing up his heritage in such an insulting way? The fact that he didn't turn his back on his roots by dropping that name doesn't make him a radical anything. As unbelievable as it may seem, there are Muslims who aren't bent on converting the world violently to Islam.

If what you say is true, you seem to have some real personal issues which have nothing to do with Macs (this is a Mac forum, no?). Try some breathing exercises, see if that helps; maybe get a stress doll, or something...be cool

Jan 19, 09 - 01:44 pm Comment from: don

There are many carpenters, electricians, painters, cooks, plumbers, gardeners, hotel owners and workers, runners, security people, sweepers, etc., happy that the $200,00,000 is being spent in DC.

Jan 19, 09 - 01:50 pm Comment from: Michael

Ah, more life in here.
I agree with you theloniousMac.

Jeremy and his far left liberal mob, I think, don't understand that a true democracy is a republic that has representative government. And that, unfortunately, radical left wing liberals, such as B HUSSEIN Obama, have transformed the republic in to being represented by $$$ rather than the people.

Dictator led countries are 'democratic' in they allow for a vote. The 'majority' always win. Whoever the dictator is, the one with the most guns and firepower on his side, is the majority. That dictator always has HOPE and will
CHANGE anyone who says otherwise.

I'll bet 'ol Jeremy didn't mind all the hate speech that's been directed toward Bush these last eight years, eh?

Jan 19, 09 - 01:54 pm Comment from: The Rev.

nothing wrong with that.

you think he is a muslim?

thats cool. i though religion didn't matter.

I imagine they are happy. That's what you call a welfare state. That's where money, usually the people's money, is TAKEN and doled out for the benefit of the few in power, hence, an immaculate coronation party for 'the One' who will save us all. All praise to B HUSSEIN Obama.

P.S. I capitalize HUSSEIN because of the profound honor it is to just walk in his shadow. It represents heritage and family, which by the way, he sort of ran from initially, until he got the slot, then all of a sudden we hear more of the HUSSEIN.
Power.
Change.
Hope.
Welfare for the masses.
Let them be thankful in whatever I, the One, allow for them.
Amen
Obama.
