Monday, May 21, 2007 - 10:23 AM EDT

Apple StoreA newly-posted YouTube video, "A Series of Tubes," from "alanquatermain," shows a plug-in by Xdog that brings YouTube to the Apple TV.

The plug-in should soon make its appearance in the AwkwardTV plug-in directory.

The AwkwardTV Plug-in Directory features plug-ins that you can use with your Apple TV here.

Wow, when did Glade jump on the OS X bandwagon?....

Just looked at the site. It is pretty cool. Lots of very useful plugins that I would download. Since I don't have the ?TV yet I don't currently have a use for this, but does anyone know how hard it is to install these plug-ins into the device?

I gather this only works on hacked Apple TV's?

This could be a easy route for viruses to get onto your mac and aTV.

I would need to know how content is vetted for viruses before I play with something like that.

Hmm. So how the heck do I get these plugins onto the appletv? Can I do it from my desktop?

The last thing any AppleTV owner needs is more fuzzy video.

The developer of "A Series of Tubes" is Xdog, not alan_quatermain. The latter, however, has been an invaluable contributor to the ATV hacker knowledge base and is the developer of the excellent "ATV Loader." Check out wiki.awkwardtv.org for more.

Does anyone know if there's a plug in to make the Elgato's EyeTV work with Apple TV, so that you can view live TV through the Apple TV interface? Or should I just wait, hope & pray Apple eventually offers a mac/apple tv with a live tv tuner....

Also, FYI... 1 Terabyte hard drives are now available in the $300's at compusa.

Um.....Can't you already watch live TV through the TV that TV is plugged into?

And actually, I believe it is the format conversion process that takes so long to go from EyeTV to iTunes. But there is, literally, a plug in you can use to speed this up

This plugin alone is reason enough for me to get an apple tv.

Mac_ATTY:

At this point there is no provision from Elgato to stream live TV to your TV. I too am waiting for the same solution, as it is the only main piece of the system missing, and I believe Apple will address it soon, perhaps with the release of Leopard. Of special note, it appears there is something going on between Apple and Miglia as their products were pulled from the AppleStore at the same time Miglia cancelled their software contract with Elgato's EyeTV software.
