Zune Tattoo Guy wants to change his name to Microsoft Zune
Tuesday, November 06, 2007 - 02:19 PM EDT

"MSZunefan, the man who sacrificed his body to Microsoft with his Zune tattoo, is now planning to change his name," Charlie Sorrel blogs for Wired.

Microsoft (First name) and Zune (Last Name)

Full article here.

MacDailyNews Take: Desperately bad guerilla marketing... er, make that "gorilla." He makes the guy who fronted the iPhone line look like Mr. Cardio. The guy's either a fake or Microsoft has actually found someone who has less respect their body than we have for their software.

Somone's been eating toys dipped in lead based paint.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:27 pm Comment from: macboy2010

couldn't think of a better name for this guy!!

perfect poster for the product.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:29 pm Comment from: pieter

For a bloke like him "Brown Zune" is a wonderful name.

He will be equally quickly forgotten.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:29 pm Comment from: Mauritius Kestrel

Ballmer's already fantasizing about putting him in tights and butterfly wings.

"Fly, my precious monkey child. Fly, dammit."

Nov 06, 07 - 03:29 pm Comment from: Banjo

I don't have the heart. It's just too damn easy.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:30 pm Comment from: Ashami

I thought this was an Onion piece

Nov 06, 07 - 03:31 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

"Oddly, his concerns are with the legality of using a trademarked name. We think he should be a little more worried with, say, keeping his wife and job."

I refuse to believe that this man has either.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:34 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

@ Mauritius Kestrel

Thanks for reminding me of that awful MSN butterfly ad campaign. The therapy I have to go through to block that stuff out isn't cheap.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:34 pm Comment from: Mauritius Kestrel

I would do what he says. He's already "accidentally" eaten three of his lawyers. See on the wall where it's writ, "Habeas A Corpus Delecti!"

Nov 06, 07 - 03:34 pm Comment from: BustingTheSkullsOfIdiots

Hey now. There are women just as stupid as this guy. How else do you think that *insert politician that you personally dislike* keeps getting re-elected?

Nov 06, 07 - 03:34 pm Comment from: Grigori

Let him do it; people never regret those sort of decisions.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:35 pm Comment from: FlyFATASSFly!

Jesus!

talk about a douche salad rolled into a chode roll.. this guy rocks the concept.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:37 pm Comment from: Crabapple

Listen all you bloggers, The man probably doesn't have a job and so this is his way of earning a buck, good luck to him because his hearing was probably temporarily dysfunctional while tucking into his favourite bucket of eats, thus causing him not to hear that the Zune and its market place chums (napster et al) are becoming obsolete at the speed of thought! Thus making him a likely candidate of early obsolesence.

What ever he does, he has my support, I can only wish him well on this new venture he is about to embark on.

We need more people like him to embody products, thus creating a very interesting World.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:37 pm Comment from: Eric

So that is what ZuneTang looks like.....

Nov 06, 07 - 03:37 pm Comment from: matt

@ BustingTheSkullsOfIdiots

So, are you saying that the women of Alaska are to blame for Ted Stevens? I see...

Nov 06, 07 - 03:38 pm Comment from: anthony007

I think he should change his name to 'anita salad'

Nov 06, 07 - 03:39 pm Comment from: Mauritius Kestrel

"We think he should be a little more worried with, say, keeping his wife and job."

Read between the lines.

Wife = Longhorn
Job = Branding

And someone might want to check his freezer. There's also a Boy Scout Troop, six insurance salesmen and dozens of pets missing in the area. <urp>

Nov 06, 07 - 03:40 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

This reminds me of when I changed my name to Sony MiniDisc. It was my father, Betamax's idea.

(Does anyone else feel a Princess Superstar song coming on?)

"Mens sana in corpore sano."
I didn't know that the reverse statement holds true as well.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:47 pm Comment from: Mr. Peabody

Ok, remember the post from Qwest crap, and how those who call Mac users zombies and mindless followers and etc.? Well basically this makes my point.

Two nursery-school truths that still hold true:
1. What goes around comes around.
2. It takes one to know one.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:49 pm Comment from: Mr. Peabody

So C1,

BetaMax was screwing VHS - eh, I thought so.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:53 pm Comment from: Crabapple

Did I say embody?

what a product that body must be embodying!!!! embo---dying get it?

Nov 06, 07 - 03:55 pm Comment from: NavyTim

Some people should remain in their parents basement and not come out to squirt with others.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:55 pm Comment from: Crabapple

Wot fun!!!

Nov 06, 07 - 03:56 pm Comment from: Mauritius Kestrel

His bumper sticker says, "If I Squirt You, Will You Love Me?"

Nov 06, 07 - 03:58 pm Comment from: Harold

Why not? I think he's the perfect spokesman for the Zune.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:58 pm Comment from: M.X.N.T.4.1.

I doubt even Microsoft would want anything to do with this basket case.

Nov 06, 07 - 03:59 pm Comment from: Crabapple

They have used this picture before!!! I guess they couldn't open the door wide enough to get in and take "a latest photograph of him"!!!

Nov 06, 07 - 03:59 pm Comment from: mu (-_-)

magic word : "why"

Nov 06, 07 - 04:00 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

From the ZuneScene comments...

mszunefan:"If any one could help me research what I have to do to have this happen in my state of Iowa that would help a great deal."

Ah... Iowa. It all makes sense now.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:00 pm Comment from: Mauritius Kestrel

"I doubt even Microsoft would want anything to do with this basket case."

Especially when TMZ reports that he's Uncle Fester and Turtle Boy's secret love child.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:01 pm Comment from: Macromancer

I think we should petition the authorities to allow this to happen. I'd love to see the hilarity of humiliation that ensues.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:03 pm Comment from: Mauritius Kestrel

"Ah... Iowa. It all makes sense now."

Where acres of corn are terrified. And useful holes come in only three flavors:
milk bottle,
canister vacuum,
and small tear in mattress.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:04 pm Comment from: ChrissyOne

Does anyone still not know that ZuneScene is run by Apple?

Nov 06, 07 - 04:06 pm Comment from: shiftOpt k

whatta mah-rune

Nov 06, 07 - 04:15 pm Comment from: Don.

He should marry that goldenpalace.com chick. Talk about successful branding, the only online gambling website I know of.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:15 pm Comment from: digikitten

Nothing says 'Lovin' like a Zune tatoo and cankles.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:16 pm Comment from: Thorin

He'll get all the chicks w/ a name like that. Let's break it down slowly: micro - soft. Yeah, I can here them running now.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:18 pm Comment from: tate

this is why I use Apple products...

Nov 06, 07 - 04:20 pm Comment from: Masa

If it takes a cool guy to represent iPod, then this guy is the perfect poster boy for Zune: Wierd and not too handsome.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:21 pm Comment from: wannabe

If Microsoft's recent ad campaign on Slashdot is any indication, their new marketing strategy is to bring on the ugly.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:22 pm Comment from: yep

A perfect mascot for Microsoft.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:24 pm Comment from: Stryker

MS should let this man change his name. He's the perfect image right now of Microsoft ...bloated.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:25 pm Comment from: Mauritius Kestrel

"He'll get all the chicks w/ a name like that."

Only the brain damaged poultry too slow to escape.

He looks like he's about to give birth to a thousand little Gigabeats.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:28 pm Comment from: oh my

Microsoft will probally sue hime if he does... They don't need anymore slow bloated things confiding with their name...and what don't know is this is this is balmer's kid...hahaha.

Nov 06, 07 - 04:35 pm Comment from: Woody
